Default Better 20T replacment motor?

Hey guys, I am looking for a better than stock 20T motor. I like the pep of the stocker so What is out there that is rebuildable or brushless, runs great on 2S, etc?

Thanks

I can only talk about my experience with Team Brood motors. Eddieo is super helpful and has an awesome product that can be built a thousand different ways. I bought a specter motor and with stock components and settings it makes my stock motor look stupid. Torque and power are off the charts! Drag brake is 3-4 times stronger than stock and the motor itself looks wicked! 2 day priority shipping was standard and they are already broken in when they arrive. Unwrap, install and hammer down!!!

You can also get a machine wound motor with almost the same characteristics for around 39$ from him as well.

I have only tried Novak, axial, speed gems and now brood motors so that's all I can base my comments on. I'm very pleased and the only thing I would change is having a 25 or 27 turn armature vs the 30t that I picked...that's it! But hey, when I want a new motor, I just need to get a different armature! BAM!

Oh, I hear Holmes hobbies makes good motors too.....

I have looked at the Brood motors and am impressed but, they are still open to dirt & water.

If you're gonna use a brushed motor, you will need to clean it after you run it hard through mud water and dirt. If you aren't going to maintain and clean it, you shouldn't have an RC car to begin with. But if you take care of it, they will last. What I'm saying is, don't worry about getting your motor dirty and it crapping out. But don't think it's indestructible either.

If you want a sealed motor, you will need brushless.

LOL @ RCMedic.... Sorry but I disagree

As i said before, don't trash it till you try it. I also run a pro 4 HD mmp combo, yes it's buttery smooth, but it's also $260+. You can get a HK combo for less than $100 that is sensored, and had tons of torque.

I say buy a decent 27t or 35t brushed motor. Good torque and wheel speed. Just my .02

You can get 27T HPI Firebolt motors pretty cheap. I've run them in my rigs and they seem decent for a bashing motor.

If you like speed then a 27T motor is about the best youll get with a 2s..not sure how you are geared but stock is 87/20...If youre looking for more torque and don't mind a small loss in speed you can start gearing down on the motor pinion.

I would recommend a torque master 27T from Holmes Hobbies..much more powerful than a sealed can and most likely will have more speed as well.

Or if you simply run in mud and sand and don't want to deal with maintenance then just get a replacement sealed can motor just don't expect to last very long..Holmes hobbies has those also.

+1 on the holmes hobbies motors.
If you want speed but also what to do any crawling whatsoever I would not go less than 27t.
For true slow speed crawling I like 45t or more best, 35t is also good for a scx10 trail truck. I have a tekin 35t with fsr in my scx10 built rubi and not super happy with that, wish I went with HH and brxl.

Here You Go!

Brushless:*
NOVAK, TEKIN
Brushed
Holmes Hobbies, Team Brood, Integy*

*You need a new ESC if you're running stock Axial Esc. Go with a Mamba Max Pro so you can go back and forth with brushed and brushless.

*I've heard that Integy's Lathe motors are good. I would definitely stick with HH or TB for brushed.

27 to 35 turn is Ideal for Brushed

Bought a Holmes Torque Master Pro & will use the stock esc for a while. Tried to solder it up last night and the soldering gun tip gave up. Getting a new soldering station from santa so I have to wait.

The Holmes 27T Torque Master Pro is the ticket. Running it on 2S for the time being and will step it up to 3S
when I get a new ESC.

FYI:

Our gang had a great northern Virginia day wheeling in the woods. I ran my Deadbolt for almost 4 hours. The Holmes motor is GREAT.

After getting home and cleaning up my Deadbolt, I got in the shower, made dinner and then started to smell something electrical burning.

The Axial AE-2 had an internal short and Burned up. My mistake for leaving it hooked up.

Moral of the story: The Axial AE-2 may have a problem and you won't know
until it explodes & B DON'T LEAVE THIS JUNK CONNECTED INSIDE YOUR HOUSE.

You are really lucky. Leaving a lipo hooked up is a good way to pull it down under 3v/cell.
