| Deadbolt bumper
Decided I needed a bumper to go with my new body so I went to searching. I found the Proline 6048-00 kit for the original AX10 and decided to try it. Long story short I had to modify it to fit the Deadbolt frame because it didn't fit at all. I used the rails only, screwing the ends into the shock mounts and screwing a Rubicon scx10 bumper and mount (Axial part #AX80125) onto the end. The bumper plate that came with it will only fit the Proline bumpers. But it works. Last edited by VTHokie; 01-07-2015 at 09:14 PM. |

your bumper job came out nice. It really is a nice addition to that fantastic paint job you did.

The paint was fun but now I don't want to take it out and tear it up.

I've been looking for ideas on how to do this for my son's Deadbolt. This is awesome, do you think the extenders would be strong enough to hold up to the stresses a winch will put on them?

It may, you would have to secure it different then I did. There's up and down play in mine but it's really just there for aesthetics.

So I really liked VTHokie's bumper mod and tried doing something myself but it really didn't seem sturdy enough to me. I ended up getting it made by Troy over at ScalerFab. Had to ship the crawler to him and back but besides that, it was a great decision. Troy does great work and even though it was a bit pricier, it was custom manufactured and fitted to my truck. See for yourself in the pics. The bumper is for the SCX10 with winch platform that's sold on RC4WD. The nice thing is that I can now use essentially any SCX10 bumper I want with this setup. |

Nice work. What exactly did Troy make for your setup? It's kinda hard to see.

If you go on his website you can see some of the other stuff he does. He was great to work with and I feel like there's nothing he wouldn't be willing to try to make if you asked. I was having a bit of buyers remorse when I saw the new Spawn wraith right after I sent him the AX10, but the second I opened up the box after he sent it back, it all melted away. I haven't changed too much on my rig but I absolutely love it and it's pretty unique at this point.
