Default Anybody with stock wheels ?

Some years ago I bought a Wraith Poison spider with plastic beadlock wheels which are quite similar to those of the Capra. Soon I replaced those wheels with better metal ones, so I delayed mounting the Capra ones thinking they are surely worse than what I'm using now. Yesterday I decided to test them because they are very light but it took half an hour to have the first finished. At the beginning the outer rings are quite far and the short M3 bolts don't reach the other side. I had to start screwing with M3x15 or M3x12 bolts, once the rings were closer I went on with stock m3x8 and finally replaced the longer ones. I really doubt the threads in the nylon ring will last long so I think these wheels are weak and difficult to mount. Is anybody using them successfully ?

Thanks
Filippo

Use mine and like them enough. I will probably replace them eventually. It was certainly a cost cutting center for Horizon to include these cheap plastic wheels in the kit, but it’s great they still included a functioning beadlock.

The biggest issue I have with them is their lack of weight. That’s about it. Maybe someday when I grow up I’ll be able to afford a set of vanquish wheels.

Most of the guys nowadays don't recommend it. But you can wrap them with lead weights to help with how light they are. Primarily the front ones though. Not the rears.

Same question but with hyrax tires (or I guess any proline) Is there a wheel modification or something I am missing to mount them? It's the tire in the box pictures but I cannot get the screws to even start. I'd rather buy wheels than mess up tires but am trying to use the kit wheels at least to start out.

Curious... are you in LaGrange TX? If so I'm just up the road from you and I'd be happy to take a look at em. Usually you use two longer screws to get things sandwiched together but with you can't do that with the oem capra wheels.

Glue the bead lip to the ring, that compresses the foam, and you do not need the long screw sets.

I was doing exactly what you talk about, some beads would slip out trying to get the rims torqued down.

Super glue to the rescue, the way I cured it.

Lightly squeeze them in a plastic jaw vice. They work perfect and go together quick.
