Question Buy new 4WS or build from scratch with metal axles?

My 10 Year old son just got a Capra kit version without rear steering as a Birthday gift.

I was checking out the truck and it looks amazing so I want to build one for myself.

I have a few crawler laying around, even built a super over 10 years ago with a RCP Hustler chassis so I have experience and Many parts laying around. Heres a video of testing day. Sorry I forgot how to share videos.

Anyway I was wondering if I should just order a RTR 4WS Capra or build one with some cheapish metal Capra portals and and custom chassis. I was thinking I could improve on CG a bit buy mounting the electronics and battery a bit lower and using a suck down winch set up.

Thanks for looking, Mike.

I'm starting to put together a parts list:

GSpeed chassis with link kit 13 inch WB ( Honestly the skid on this kit looks horrible ) Button head screws and 20mm grub screw?? Better option for a skid?
Spare-Time Hobbies skid might work with this chassis. (thoughts?) I think my son need the chassis and skid.. (Just easier to work on
RZXYLRC F9 front axles
Holmes stubby 2200kv motor 11T pinion gear
Capra driveshafts???
3 gear transmission with dig
25% ish overdrive
92mm shocks
Amazon 35kg servos
treal 7075 Servo mounts
Hobbywing Quicrun ESC
Radiolink 6 CH TX and RX or just use my Taranis Q7 TX (stick radio)
Traxxas 5525 rod ends

I might be knocking the skid plate but the chassis looks like it's really easy to work on. I'd personally like to modify it to use better cap screws.

Fun stuff.. What do you guys think of the parts list so far?

It’s always cooler when it’s a scratch built, if you’ve got the time and budget, I say run with it.
