Default Johnny's Class 3 RR10 Crawler

I hadn't intended on doing a build thread but this rig is moving in the C3 crawler direction so I figured I might as well.

I've installed Mayhem Engineering 2.2
2.2 Pitbull Rockbeast

Next up:
Wraith length UCFab trailing arms
Stainless steel alltread links with aluminum sleeves up top and SS lowers
Servo winch
VP knuckles, CHubs and drag link
Probably Beef Tubes up front.
Thinking SCX10 trans with VP Dig
Possibly HH 14t Puller on 6s with a BRXL and a Hitec 7950 servo.
(Basically, a bunch of parts I have laying around)

I got some serious work done on the Bomber today:

Installed VP knuckles, CHubs, Truss (front and Rear), Beef Tubes, Axial HD gear and GripFab ARB locker, GripFab steering links and a Hitec 7950 servo up front.
Was going to drop in a GripFab ARB and Axial HD Under Drive in the rear but couldn't find the pinion so it's stock till I order another.
SCX10 trans with steel gear and a VP Hurst dig, MIP driveshafts
HH 14t Puller on 6s with a BRXL
Robbed the servo winch (and most of the other parts) from Hera, just need to mount it... and the rest of the electronics.
Next is to cut the Stainless steel alltread links with aluminum sleeves up top and SS lowers.

I installed ProLine PowerStroke scaler shocks. 3.5" up front and 3.75" in the back.
It lowered the ride height and limited flex to about one tire.
I also played around with shock location and ended up mounting the front lower shock above the axle to lay them back.

I flipped the spare tire mount to the inside to reduce the length and gain clearance.
I'll have to add some threaded rod to it so I can remount the tire.

I test fit my C3 (Hera) interior... it almost fits and I think could with a new floor pan but not sure I want to add the weight even though it looks great.

I added a 1.5" RC4WD Light Bar that I won to the front bumper.

Made a mounting plate and attached it to the chassis where the sliders attach.
Then cut the driver and passenger out of the molded interior creating space for the Dinky Cheap Seats... leaving the dash and behind the seat, which I need to trim back another 1/8" or so to slide the Dinky seat back a little bit. For now it's all just servo taped together.

The esc, receiver, bec and hopefully winch mount to the plate in-between it and the body panels.

There's just enough space to squeeze in 2 1300mah 3s lipos in the battery tray to run 6s.

6s! I bet this thing is gonna be stupid. 4s on my 2200kv HH PP is enough for me.

Well, it's 6s on an OG HH 14t Puller brushed motor... It's a beast of motor but not brushless fast.

I've been messing around with the bug body and probably not going to run it...

I also had a set of Twin Hammer trailing arms that I thought were going to be too short for the Bomber but after reading the Trailing Arm thread I installed them... and now I regret ordering the Wraith length arms because these seem to be a good length once on.

Mocked up some rear upper links and trimed the rear interior area to better fit the seats.

Also... Bug.

Took the Bomber out for a shake down run.
I love it!
The Twin Hammer trailing arms are great for crawling.
It sit's low and got hung up a few times but overall it's got an ok break over angle, great approach angle, killer side hilling and nice power to weight ratio and the dig is awesome.
I think it'll be a contender.

Still not sure about the bug panels... I keep going back and forth on them so ran one side with them today.

Fixed copilot Willy's head
Painted all the panels flat black (first step of color scheme)
Drilled a "fair lead" through the bottom of the front stinger
Swapped the overhead light bar for buckets.

I'm leaving at 6am for the first comp of the NWITTC series.

The Bomber did pretty good at the comp today.
I winched a lot... more than I would have liked because my D Ring wouldn't fit over the Axial tube work so instead of a removable hook which basically doubles my winch line because I'm running a snatch block... I had to tie my line to the stinger... essentially cutting my line length in half.
Anyway, the Bomber kicks ass and I think I had good runs... can't wait for the scores to be posted!

The Bomber is feeling pretty good.
I installed my new LS1 prototype and hit the rocks to enjoy our first warm day and get some pics.

How did you mount the rear tire?

Just got one the other day and was looking at how the cage was put together. Looks like you could swap the tire mount with the brace located on the inside to move the tire mount in some. Wasn't sure if it would hit the rear axle or if it had the proper angle on it. Looks like you used the stock mount similar to what I was thinking. How did you end up locking it all up?

Nevermind. Tore mine apart and got something pretty simple worked out and it should clear the gas can. Mine is drying right now so I can't confirm at the moment.

Anyway, sweet ride. Love that scale LS1.
