| Lets talk Spools....
Hi Team. I need a new set of spools/lockers. I have a set of Bad Ass lockers from Asia tees which seem to be working well, but i have a new set of titanium coated gears coming and I'm keen to try some others for these. I'm in Australia so getting nice things is expensive or takes ages (often both) Locally, I can get 2x FI spools for 80 bucks or 2x incision spools for 55 bucks. Are the FI spools that much better? Also is our mate John Holmes going to make any more spools? as I have read they are pretty ace. As always I'd love your input if there is anything else I should be looking at... Thanks again, I love your work! |

I’ve got the incision spools and they have been great for me. I’m not sure how different they can really be. I’ve definitely not been easy on mine and they have never had a problem.

I have a few Incision spools and a bunch of Locked Up spools, the Locked Up ones definitely have a tighter fit and less play than the Incision (not to say the Incision ones are bad). The Locked Up ones are my favorite but the cost difference you are faced with doesn't make it worth it over the Incision. As for the Holmes spools, JRH sold off his lathe that they were made on so I wouldn't expect them to come back any time soon. |

I’ve got Grip Fab ARB style spools/lockers in my bomber, the fit is so tight that I haven’t been able to remove the spools from the ring gear by hand.

I think I'll have to invest in a set of grip fab and FI spools soon too. I certainly have enough trucks to use them in.... Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk |

I've had both. The Incision are lighter and easier to install because the tolerances are normal. The FI spools are heavier and crazy tight, which I like because it eliminates one source of drivertrain slop. If they were the same price, LURC all day. If the Incision were a little cheaper, still LURC. But your price difference, I'd go Incision. They are something you'll buy, install, and then probably never think of again. |

Most steel lockers are on par do whatever you can get easiest would get my vote. I'd guess you deal with one10 crawlers locally? |

I was lucky enough to get Holmes lightweight lockers in my current Revolver-powered, SHV500-equipped Bomber and I have F1 spools in my built SSD AR60 Diamond axles that are going in Bomber #2...

I have the incision and the fi spools i also have deadloc spools and cheap chiness noname spools hot racing spools and what ever i find to be the cheapest honestly the cheap noname spools have the best fit and the least slop and look exsacly like the deadloc spools and very close to the fi spools the vanquish spools are lighter and have a funny pattern machined in to them i prefer the incisions for the rear and the cheap chineese/deadloc/fi stuff upfront ive never had one of anybrand fail some have more slop than others but there all about the same

Be nice if you’d give us a picture, but I’ll spitball for a bit, if nothing else it’ll ease my curiosity. Are the heads of the screws too tall? Did you use a gasket in between your spool and the ring gear? Are the bearings not properly seated on the ring gear, and on the spool? Do you have the bearings in the right location on the diff housing? |

I'm at work so no pics. I did everything right. The axial HD gears with the incision spools fit. Its just the combo of the boom gear and vanquish spool not fitting. Which sucks because I wanted to underdrive the rear. But the axial HD gears are 38, and the boom are 43.. All gears fit with my GRC aluminium spool.... Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk |

I have the same combo of Incision spool and BoomRacing gears and after returning 2 BoomRacing gears because they wouldn't fit at all, I now have a set that fits. But now that I have gotten everything to fit it does hold up great Quality of BoomRacing stuff differs so much, I had to return multiple products, some even more than once.... |
