Default What pair of foams to replace the stock bomber foams?

Hi All,

Do i get the regular or "tall" duces wild foams for the stock tires of my bomber kit?

Or what other foams do you guys recommend? I notice that the stock foams are real weak and the sidewalls roll over real easy.

The Axial 2.2 BFG KR2s use 2.2 Standard Deuces Wild foams.

If you want a 2 stage foam, 5.5 DDs are the ones to get.

Do the duces wild allow for enough give though for the tire to conform around rocks when crawling?

I'm also considering Double Deuces foams for my stock KR2 tires. The stock foams just allow a little too much sidewall flop. I am just not sure which foam width or stiffness to go with.

Or should i look at something like the double deuce, 5.5 comp cut with a medium outer?

Question is, do i get the narrow width or normal in the double deuce 5.5?

Duces Wild are more of a trail foam. They are good at not taking in water and don't expand as much at high speed due to the closed cell design. They are okay at the rocks and you can get away with some moderate crawls.

If you're looking for pure rock performance double duces are the way to go. They conform around the rocks great and the hard inners help a lot. It's more ture to the 1:1 crawlers, they still run a few psi in their tires. The outer foams will absorb water. So you don't want to let the water sit in the foams. I put holes in the center of the tires and full throttle and the tires spinning get 90% of the water out.

I'd also stick with standard 5.5 size.

So standard double duces comp cut medium would fit the stock bomber tires well? or the narrows?

Not sure on that. Check the tire size and reference them with the size of the foams.

I'd get the narrower one if the clamping ring area is 1" or less, if the clamping ring area is greater than 1" then I'd get the wider version.

The weight of the rig, should give you a ball park area of which firmness of outer foam you need/want.

You want standard width for kit wheels. The narrow width is very narrow and intended for wheels like VP's pizza cutters.

Good choice on the comp cut and mediums.

You can check to see if RPP has them in stock. They're a great place to deal with.
