Default Perfect Lil Spot For A Shelf...

After I installed my Handbrothers CMS steering kit from MSD, I had yet to figure out where to put the battery and the ESC. Once the kit was installed, there was this gapping hole right next to the servo that is just the perfect size for a battery pack. So, I got to fabricating a shelf that would fill this area and also go behind the servo so I had a shelf for the ESC.

I removed the front most crossmember of the frame and replaced it with the second one back that has the centered standoff. I trimmed a bit off the ends of this crossmember so I could get the standoff to sit vertical and match up with the two shorter standoffs back on the crossmember that screws into the shock hoops. This made three triangular points to set the shelf on. The shelf is made of 1/8" acetal (of course :-P)

So the question is...when you have time to work on stuff how do you deside what project to work on?? I think if I got rid of the wife and kids I might make it around to 1/4 of the projects i have stashed away ;) But even then I'm not sure I envy your progress!! Speaking of mini skeeters I hope to get back to mine tomarrow...

That looks awesome! I think you need to sell the plans to MSD so they can package them with the steering kits.

Most of the time it comes down to what each rig still needs and what I feel like doing that day, not to mention...if I have all the parts or still need to buy some. If one rig needs something fabbed, but I don't feel like it...I just work on another one that may only need the electronics soldered or something.

I'm lucky in the fact that there is no wife or kids. :-P

I was thinking of making up a template for it to add to my collection...we'll see.

Kinda surprised I haven't seen it done myself. Maybe people are doing it but not posting it up...

I always try for clean work (as much as I can). I am all about the details. What's that phrase? Oh yeah...anal retentive SOB.

I should snap you guys a pic of the work I did today....then you'd REALLY think I was OCD. I replaced my water heater, and at the same time added a whole house sediment filter. Let's just say that once it was all done, I could not leave well enough alone........I used a steel brush to cleanup all of the exposed copper piping

I've got the CAD all finished up and the PDF written. When I get home this afternoon I'll just need to check it against the truck and make sure it's good to go....and I can throw it up on my site.

I know this is an older post but I just want to say thanks as well to Offroader5. I made my "shelf" yesterday out of aluminum. Now I need to order up a lipo for it. Also did the gas tank mod and am redoing all the wiring to clean it up. I'm sure there are some new SCX10 owners who might like this.

Thanks for the template Offroader5. Solved my problem of mounting my Vintage Hilux body without drilling new holes in it
