| Flatirons are great in the dry but......
I need some opinions for good mudding tires. The flatirons work great for most stuff but in soft mud like I was in today they were lacking. I was looking at RC4WD mudslingers but need some real world opinions. I do want to stick with 1.9's though even though I am sure going 2.2 would help. |

The 1.9 RC4WD Mudslingers are awesome in the dirt period.. Dry gravel or sand and mud they work excellent.. Wheelspeed really helps too.. They go good in the snow as well.. I have a set of those mounted on extra rims for my SCX-10 for these conditions and I only use the flat irons for rocks or packed dirt.

I had Rock Stompers on my old X-Trail Chevy and loved them. They sucked in the rocks, but more than made up for it in the mud and snow. I had tons of horsepower to help them clean out (Sidewinder 5700), but I didn't even need it all to get them to clean and grab some more. I couldn't even get that truck stuck in Oklahoma mud on my grandparent's farm, much less in Utah mud. That was 3WD even, because I rocked an open front diff on that truck. Mud Slingers work well too, but they're a much, much smaller tire than the Flat Irons, whereas the Stompers will be almost identical in size, so your gearing (and the look of the truck) will already be spot on

Thanks for that review. I had not noticed how much smaller the Mud Slingers were. I really do not want to change the size that much.

anything with a "bogger" type tread or deep and some what open between the lugs works real nice for loose dirt hill climbs and mud

outcroppers work well and are just a tad smaller than the flatirons

I'd wait a little bit for the new RC4WD Rok Lox's. 4.5in tall and should be great in the mud, or atleast look like it.
