Default sxc10 as a bash fun truck?

I am fairly undecided as far as a truck goes... first crawler king, then ax10, then this sxc10 has caught my eye. I really don't want a all out rock crawler. I want something I can take in the woods on a good hiking trail, bash in my front yard and do some light crawling with. I love the stock looks of the "stock class". Is this a good vehicle for a "bash" truck. Was thinking about putting 27t motor in it for good wheel speed and possibly throwing a differential in the front axle but who knows. I also want something durable out of the box that I don't have to spend a bunch of money after the fact repairing broken parts on due to poor quality. I used to be in RC years ago so I ain't afraid to build something either. Thoughts?

you just have to build it and get electronics for it

Sounds like the SCX would be perfct for what you want. Mine is a blast to play with.

well i put a 27 turn in mine and ended up mostly bashing and jumping in my basement with it. Havent broken anything yet and having allot of fun. I crawled with it a little but allways find myself flying over stuff in my basement lol.

I use 3s lipo with the 27 turn and a 23 pinion and its just a tad slower then what I want. I would consider a faster motor if your not gonna run 11volts and want any kinda fun speed!

Sounds like the SCX-10 is perfect for what you want to do. I really like mine and have a 27T in it now with the stock 14/87 gearing. If I want more speed for bashing just throw in a 20t pinion.

I was debating the same thing when buying my crawler, I see so many with 55t or 65t motors, but the max speed is horrendous, BUT they have great low speed control... will a 27t stock motor (or brushless equivilent) still let you creep slowenough and provide enough torque for slow stuff while still having enough speed to play around?

That video of mine that I posted is with a handwound 35t. I would stay with this motor. Great torque and low speed control. I ran a 27t before in my Axial, no where near as good. High quality 35t motor and a good gearing choice and your golden.

One of the guys here is building one up and took it to the track the other day... was bumping slashes out of the way, should be putting some photos and video up of it when he gets it more dialed in.

He extended the wheelbase and used our new shocks, it sits pretty low with sway bars, he is running a brushless system, the thing can clear double and triple jumps on the track.

Nice video.. Looked pretty fast. I run a Integy 35T Rock Crawler Professional Motor with 3s and that looked to be faster then mine. I run the same 23/87 gearing.

Hells yes, the SCX10 is a very versatile truck.

Since I've built mine up and tuned it out, I haven't touched my Hustler, my TLT, or my MRC at all. My SCX10 is an absolute blast to drive. It's capabilities continue to amaze me 3 months after finishing it.

I'm running a Holmes 7t Puller w/ an FX-R, on 11.1 volt LiPo's. Stock Axial tranny w/ 87t spur and 23t pinion. This setup rocks for a trail truck or basher. Plenty of wheelspeed on tap, and very low speed with mad torque, whatever you need.

SX10's are big fun right out of the box, and the tuning/aftermarket possibilities are vast...

I love how you just pop it over that log gap.

What shocks are you running? That truck seems to handle jumping pretty well, and it's looking pretty damn smooth gassin' it through those rocky sections...

In the video it was bone stock with the exception of the tube top, tires/wheels and chopped frame.

Favorite truck to date. Last night I added wheels, tires and dig.

I got to drive the truck today that Axial is talking about on the track for a good 20 minutes. Most fun I have had in a long time. The solid axles on the track make for an interesting drive but it does suprisingly well and I had no problem keeping up with the stock slashes I took some pics too.

that's a great pic that really captures how fast the truck is moving.
