Default SCX-10...10" wheelbase?

I've been searching this forum and can't find much on shortening the wheelbase to 10". Has anyone done this? I want to use a Tamiya hard body. Thanks for any feedback....Butch

You can use shorter links to reduce the wheelbase but the frame would still be the same (shock mounts, etc.).

just make new links. and if you want to relocate the shock towers just drill some new holes. not that complecated.

Ive got a jk with a 10 3/4 wheelbase I just shortened the rear links and moved the shock towers to the holes already drilled in the chassis. Then i just trimed the excess chassis that was sticking out.

Or search jpterbl1 yj it involves cutting and welding the frame to fit the yj body but it fits the body perfect just depends on how far you want to go.

Thanks for the feed back guys. Thanks for the link to that scx-yj build. That gives me more to think about. No welding skills or equipment...yet.

i did as venom-crawler said on my scx10. i am running an lr3 body so i had to shorted the wheel base by and inch to make it 10 1/2". i just made new links out of 3mm s.s. all thread and 3/16 x .035 wall aluminium tubing. i really can't see shortening more than this though. my links are super short and you have to have spacer where the 3link bolts to chassis, also with my links so short my driveshaft almost rubs on the links, i probably have like a 1/32 of a gap. i just moved the rear shock towers to the predrilled holes but my shocks are at a slight angle because of it but it doens't bother me.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking I'll go another route with my jeep yj build. I was hoping I could pull it off or maybe somebody else had. Can't find much available in scale 10" wb chassis', within a budget reasonable price range. Chassis' are either "out of stock" or out of budget. Thanks to all who offered feed back.

if your looking for a 10" wheelbase and at a very reasonable cost you can get a tamiya cc01 kit check the cc01 section

Thanks. That's the route I decided to go. I'll save this project idea for when my budget can support my true desires...
