| Newb TR Help
I would like to get into crawling and have played around with an MRC but would like to get into the scale side of things with a scx10 TR. My question is can anybody recommend a battery for me? The kit says that you need to provide a battery of some kind. I think I want to run Lipo due to longer run times but have read that guys usually run a special esc with lipos. Can some one recommend a good Lipo Battery (or recommend against one) and a quality charger? Thanks!

Or you can just go with a standard 3600 or 4000mah nimh, I get roughly 35-40 minutes on a charge.

I'm running a Venom 3000mah stick pack and it works well for me, just relocated the battery over the front axle though.

I am running a 4200 ProMatch 6cell nimh and get 30-35 mins runtimes. At $25, can't beat that.

If you dont already have a Nicd or Nimh charger, then I would just order some lipos and a lipo charger. You want to find a balance charger. If you dont want to upgrade your esc, you should also purchase a voltage cut-off, so as not to over discharge your lipo. If you are going to use the stock esc, then you need a 2s lipo, at least 20c or more discharge rating. The mah rating is up to you. The more mah, the more runtime, and the bigger the battery. On the other hand, if you upgraded your esc to something that has a lipo cutoff built in, and can handle 3s lipo, you would want something different. 2s lipo is 7.4 volts, 3s is 12 volts, the more voltage, the more power/speed. It all depends on how much money you want to spend and how much performance you desire. Going lipo is the future of RC, best to jump on the band wagon. Drunk | |

If you want a cheap, but really nice charger and balancer for LiPo batteries, you should look at this: http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html It is a charger AND a balancer and is only $55. Watch the video to see how easy it is to use and all of the adjustability it offers. |

Thanks BadRockNoCookie! I think Im gonna go with the Thunder A6 charger. It seems like I can do everything with it and is perfect for when I expand into the hobby. Unless people have had a bad experience with it, I will probably order by the end of the week. I picked up a Lipo for my MRC but never used it since funds for a charger had run out. As for a Lipo cutoff, are there any that you guys recommend and do I really need one? My understanding is that they cut the battery off so it doesn't overdraw. Instead could I just run the rig for 30ish minutes and cut it at that? Or is it one of those things that should just get now and avoid many headaches down the road? Thanks alot guys,

I use the turnigy accucell 6 from hobby city. Its only 37 bucks and will charge pretty much anything. For lipos I'm using turnigy 2 cell 2200 mah batts. Go with lipo cause they are lighter and you will get a lot more useable run time out of them
