Default Where will my SCX-10 scaler get more power?

I'm building my first scaler, and want it to BIG bursts of POWER, and wheel speed when needed, but not lose the ability to crawl of course......These are the ideas I have so far to pick from, or I am open to other suggestions for this 2.2 scaler.

1. HH 35T run on a Tekin FXR and a 3s Lipo of _____ mah.

2. HH 7T puller run on a Tekin FXR Pro and a 2s Lipo of _____mah.

3. HH 10T puller run on a Tekin FXR Pro and a 2s Lipo of ____mah.

4. Some brushless motor ESC and lipo battery combo of some sort.

Any guidance is very much appreciated.

For your scaler a 2200 pack or even a 3600 pack would be nice if you have the space. If you want lots of punch, 25c and up is the way to go.

Otherwise you can get away with a 1300 pack, they can have plenty of punch with shorter runtimes.

I have a 13.5 sensored motor on 2s 3600 in my scx10

13.5 That's fast A$$ I have a 17.5 in one and 3s it smokes

I have
1. HH 35T run on a Tekin FXR and a 3s Lipo of _2100____ mah fast and good tork but it very light in (halloween)

2. HH 10T puller run on a Tekin FXR Pro and a 3s Lipo of _2100___mah. very heavy but the 10t will still pull the wheels for the ground. My fr really didn't like this set up that much. ( I think the fxr was bad) in (The Pirate)

3. Some brushless motor ESC and lipo battery combo of some sort.

I have a Tekin RS and 17.5 Brushless 3s 2100 this is very fast and great tork. But water is not a friend of these motors in (cgr Scout)

#1, but i'm using a JP Warrior-R 35t motor which I believe is similiar to HH. Using a 2200 3s Turnigy pack up front mounted on a shelf and a Hand Bros CMS kit. I couldn't be happier with the combination. It's really fun with some 2.2 Hammers on it too!

One major concern is I want ALOT of drag brake. I hate freewheeling one technical downhills, and my FXR does a great job with drag brake on my comp rig. that is why I seem biased on Tekin I guess.

id say the 35t 3s and fx-r would be nice with the stock 14t gear or a 16t and id have some good speed

If you have a good motor, the drag brake will follow. A handwound brushed, cobalt puller, or sensored brushless will all give great drag brake. Now with the latest Castle update, even the Sidewinder has great brake.

That combo will definately give you all the oomph that you want and still be pretty controlable on the rocks and it is sure gonna scoot along pretty quickly for a scaler.

One member on here recently showed his SCX-10 with a Slash motor and ESC in it, And I was really surprized how controllable it looked at slow speed, and how it ripped at high speed!

My mog scaler has so much power it's destroying the axial axle housings, twisting the molds.
10t puller, 3racing portals and a MaxAmps 8k mAh 3s at 20c.
Buying some 3racing Alum axles housings next.

Were those portals 1:1 ratio?

Of course not,
I believe they 1.5:1 ratio, scary for the gears.

Well there you go! Nothing like a little torque multiplication to twist things up! But you knew that.

Mamba Max

If I didn't already have that ESC laying around I would have ran a FXR Pro, I use the Pro in my other crawlers except my mini. That has the non Pro FXR and 2s.

You sound like you have what I'm looking for, enough power to bust stuff! How much more like a 1:1 could it be? LOL!:-P
