Are there any prefab kits or parts to extend the SCX out to 13" (New Bright JK build).

I don't know of any. I put mine at 12 3/4" for my Mega Cab Build. It requires making your own upper and lower links ( might be able to use the lower stock links as your uppers ) and comming up with something for the rear drive shaft. At that length, the stock drive shaft will only have about 1/2" of splines touching. I used some Emaxx drive shafts and did the mod that is posted in the AX-10 section. It is fairly easy.

If you lengthen the front also ( which I did ) the Hand Bros. kit will not work with out some modding. So I made my own Chassis mounted steering kit (CMS).

The SCX-10 works great, but was not made that long of a wheel base. But with a little work, it is defenatly the best scaler you can get .

If you want to see how I did the links and the steering for the long wheel base, just click the" SCX10 Mega Cab" on my sig.

Hope this helps.

I just finished my new bright JK and I just made my own lower links. I think last months Xtreme RC had an article on it and that's what I followed. For mine I used 1/4 x .047 aluminum tube cut to 104mm, I then used 6-32 allthread ran down the tube with Traxxas rod ends. That got me 13" on the dot. Since I 4linked mine my uppers I just measured the length with the pinion angle I wanted and went from there. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I have all the measurements gathered from posts here. I was just hoping to get some nice prefab pieces.

I have delrin tubing and traxxas rod ends laying around, but have never worked with aluminum tubing, maybe now is the time to learn.

The aluminum tubing was cheap, I think I spent less than $8 on it at my LHS. Just cut it down with a Dremel.

what if you use the 106 mm lower with the long traxxas rod ends and 101mm for the uppers?

My setup uses the long traxxas rodends, I think 106mm is a little long for the 13in wheelbase. When I was doing mine I was concerned with the measurement of the lowers because if you search on here you will find a couple of different lengths. So I harkened back to my school days and did the math. I converted the wheelbases from inches to mm, (stock=11.4in=289.56mm and 13in=330.2mm), the stock lower links are 91mm so says the etching on the sides. Setting it up as a proportion I slightly rounded the measurmets as follows: 91mm/290mm = (X)mm/330mm. Cross multiply to get 290(X)=30030, divide 30030 by 290 to get a final measurment of 103.55. Rounding them up to 104mm I put the links together and assembled it and it was within just a hair of 13in.

Ok, I'm going to take out my pocket protector now. I think I more than lucked out with this.

As for the uppers, I'm not really sure. I think mine are 87mm. But I used TCS 4 link plates. I just set my pinion angle and measured it out. I guess it all depends on your setup. I intend on replacing those with the Axial 4links and I will probably need to make more custom length links then.

Hey ptcary, not sure if you ever came up with anything that would work for you, but here's what I did:

I bought the Axial 106mm lower links (anodized red) and 70mm upper links (anodized orange) from my local rc store and they worked perfect. The new wheelbase is 13" and fits the NB JK 1/8 body perfect.

Here's a few pics of mine that I just built this past weekend, not quite finished -

Big thanks to blazefighter for his calculations on this for getting me as close as possible!!

Just to clarify, you just used the stock links? I wanted to know if you used the stock drive shaft?

Used standard mip's and custom stainless links. But they are same length as stock links
