Default Bolt On Rock Sliders

I picked up a MAPP gas torch and some Safety Silv 56 a while back with the intention of learning to braze. It sat around for a long time, but over the Thanksgiving weekend I finally had a chance to devote a bit of time to it. Eventually I'd like to make a tube chassis. I decided to start with something a bit easier, though... rock sliders for my SCX-10. Maybe I'm a bit flakey, but I don't like to make anything permanent so I made them to be a bolt on deal.
They're not quite finished yet, still need a little clean-up work and then powder coat in wrinkle black. Here are some pics of the process and the almost finished sliders.

They turned out really good. With your first time sitting down doing brazing for a while, did you end up coming up with any tips for a newbie. I really like the "arm" you fashioned to hold things in place for you. That's slick

Looks great and makes me think I will be able to braze when I get to that point. I like the bolt on idea as I do like to be able to change things over time.
Also like the third hand. I have everything to make a set just havent gotten around to do yet..
Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing it done..

I don't really have any advice to offer other than to say that it's pretty easy to do. Don't be afraid to try it out. I just read some of the many how to braze threads that are around here before I started and practiced on a few scrap tubes first. The only "difficult" part was brazing the tube to the flat sheet metal mounting plate.

I hope to get them powder coated this weekend then I'll post some more pics. Thanks again for all the kind words, they were a lot of fun to make.

how much $ for powder coating? i'm planning on brazing rock sliders, bumpers, and rollbar. painting them is surely ok, but powder coating is classes better. top would be plasting coating ;)

It'll probably only cost me a six pack of beer to get them coated. :-P I don't know how much commercial powder coaters charge though. I know for small parts like this there is usually a batch charge. So it most likely wouldn't be very economical to have just a few parts coated.

What is plasting coating? I'm not familiar with that.

Maybe he means dip the tops in plati coat stuff which is for tools and it would give the top a grip surface, its a rubber guys use it to seal electronics up
