| ESC for SCX10
Is a brushless system really needed for a crawler? I see alot of people using the Tekin FXR with a 35t or 45t and for half the price. I'm new to crawling and just wanted to see what you experienced guys think. Thanks for the help.

IMA, I would think that most would prefer a brushed system. They tend to have a little better control at slow speeds. Lots of people run brushless, but I would say most run brushed Tekin FXR combo is also a great choice. |

I've got the Novak Rooster Crawler/55t combo in 2 of mine. Works great, but I think I might try out a 45t soon.

I like the Rooster because its waterproof & has a lipo cutoff. 2s lipo with a 35t is great. Plenty of torque & wheel speed |

Is the Venom Fireball 55t and Venom ESC waterproof 60A a good choice also?

Brushed, Holmes Hobbies BX-RL and 45 turn motor, super smooth low end, crazy torque. $150 for the combo, you can even get it waterproofed.

From what I've read the rtr isn't horrible. The Holmes just handles more juice and is water proof right?

yeah the holmes can handel up to 6s, and can be waterproofed, i like the 3s set up, other than that the stock ESC is fine.

Just checking. So far I've been happy with the RTR setup, the esc just seems twitchy/jumpy from crawl to full speed. I keep reading about Holmes hobbies, but upgrading the esc is far down my list at this point. Sorry for the hijack, just trying to learn why people are upgrading.

I run a mamba max pro and Novak 13.5 ballistic crawler motor in one of my scx10s and it will crawl rocks as slow as any brushed set up! Personally I'll never run brushed again simply because I dont have to worry about maintenance (brushes and turning a comm). This set up on 1.9 is not as fast as it sounds and has 0 cog when crawling rocks. The downside is it typically cost almost twice as much as a brushed set up. |

Not to hijack but could I run the esc outta my slash 4x4 on my honcho? If so that'd save me a ton.

| Re: ESC for SCX10 Reading through the "what powers your SCX" thread, it looks like it has been done. Other than being waterproof, I personally do not see it being a good esc for crawling. I do not think it can handle brushed and the sensorless brushless motor would cog I've read.

Been there done that but basically the VXL will cog even after you have geared it down and it has no brake hold or instant reverse, needless to say it will work but you won't be happy |
