Default Honcho Zach Style

It pays off to have good friends that own hobby shops Yesterday I got a call saying that my LHS would have a couple Honchos in around closing. I knew I had to have one! I'm a big Toyota fan and have had a couple Tacomas so I've been anxiously waiting for these and figured it would be February before I saw it.

I'm going to build it tonight. While I do I'll post up any differences I see in the other kits.

First thing I pulled out the body and went to painting. I wanted paint inside and out so I used a hobby knife to cut the overspray film around the windows and lights. Then if you're careful you can pull it off and it will stay on the windows for masks.

Then I used Tamiya Aluminum paint for the bed to give it a look that should match the bumper. I took a few minutes to mask off the fuel cell. It looks a lot better than the stickers but it's still cool of Axial to include the stickers.

The Proline tires that come with the kit aren't bad but I've come to love the RC4WD Rok Lox so I mounted a set up. I wanted to keep up the flat black look so I painted the wheels too. I added 4 oz of weight to the fronts and 2oz to the rear. I also drilled 2 small holes in each wheel for breathers.

Even though they are a little bigger they still fit in the bed perfectly, I think Axial was thinking on this one

Other plans are a Hand Bros Steering kit. Tekin FX-R, 35t motor, and 3s Thunder Power Lipo. Like I said though, I'll post up stuff and I see differences tonight as I build.

Yeah, I got really lucky, I didn't believe Big Bear when he called me Thanks on the paint, I think it turned out pretty good. I can't wait to see it all built. I'm just waiting for my wife to go to work in an hour so I can get to it.

All these are on my list. Getting mine for Christmas.

I will definitely be watching your build to see what I need to do.

Man, it is almost 7:00 and no updates yet . j/k

My LHS owner and I are on pretty good terms, but it always pisses him off when I tell him that I have seen it already . He always thinks he is the first with something new, and get dissapointed when I tell him some of you guys have had it for a few weeks . I always get a big kick out of seeing his face.

I'm building on it now. I had to strip the axles and Hands Bros kit off another SCX 10 first. I'll update as I see new stuff and the body details. I have a bunch of stuff to put together that is nothing new first though.

I'm going at it right......now!
