| What's a good all around gear?
I've tried a few different pinions on my scx10, the original 14, too slow, then a 19, and now a 21. This is my first scaler, not sure what's a good gear? I've read about wheel speed, etc., just wondering whats the best to use? I have a Novak Rooster, with a Novak 45 turn motor in it. Thanks!!! |

The torque is pretty good with the stock axial 27turn but I plan on getting a 35 or 45 tekin motor

I'm using the Axial 20T on a 55T motor on 2S lipo and I have good speed and low torque. |

How much difference is there between a 45 turn to a 35? Will you get more torque and speed??

The 45t motor will have more torque than the 35t motor but will be slower. Just like in real vehicles, different gears ( electric motors ) the faster the motor the less torque, the more torque the slower the motor. The motor and pinion combo, that you are looking for will depend on how you drive the scaler. If I am playing around, I like a 35t motor with 20t pinion. But for going slow and in a scale comp I like the 35t motor with a 14t pinion for more precise low end control. I am running 3 cell lipos though. With the 2 cell for the Rooster, I would try the 27t motor with 14t pinion for slow and with a 20t pinion for playing around. |

20T pinion, 45T motor, 7 Cell NiMH is the perfect combo. Oh and the Novak Rooster Crawler ESC is a must have.

| Lipo FTW. No way I would ever go back to NiMH batts. I also much more prefer a sidewinder over the Roosters but the Tekin FXR is my favorite by far. Also 35t motors with about an 18t pinion works great on 3s.
