Default problem with bent links on scx

Ok i installed 30 degree bent links on my scx10 and replaced the plastic triangulated upper link with aluminum ones. The problem im running into is all the articulation is gone now. Ive seen some scx on here with these links on them and they dont com anywhere close to touching. So heres some pictures. Any advice would be awesome. Ive turned the bends the other way and it is worse.

Looks to me like the lowers hit the uppers and kill the articulation. The uppers don't move as much as the lowers during articulation. Best bet is to try and move the links around so they don't interfere or get rid of the bent lower links for straight ones.(What I would do) Maybe if you could bolt the lowers to the outside of the frame instead of the skid they would clear.

I HAVE BENT LINKS ON MINES BUT I HAVE THE SIMILAR X TRAIL CHASSIS BUT, THE UPPER LINKS SEEM TO BE HIGHER UP ON THE CHASSIS THAN THOSE ON THE SCX 10. MAYBE YOU COULD MOUNT UPPER LINKS IN A DIFF. LOCATION OR MOVE THE LOWER LINKS. ANYHOW, GOOD LUCK!!!

obviously they arent going to work. your probably going to have to make a custom bent link until one of the vendors start making them..............

exesivefire used them with his SCX rock racer, but had to relocate the upper link mounting points on the frame and use some shorter links.

Default solution

Well heres my fix for the links contacting one another. I took 101mm 30 degree axial links and shorten them up. Then used the 4 link truss off the axial plastic tree. Hope this helps everyone who wants to make this mod. It stretched the wheelbase to about 11.75inchs.

You did exactly what I did, run bent uppers AND lowers. Looks good!

I did the rear links as suggested, getting 2 sets of bent links, all works well in the rear now (also running the 4 links truss from axial - its plastic, but ok).

my question is i cant seem to replicate the same thing for the front due to the location of the receiver box (the bent uppers will hit the box). is there any way around this (other than moving the receiver box to another location?).

comments appreciated.
thanks.

bent upper links seem crazy, I guess it works but...

look at that picture 2JSC posted, that rock racer does not run bent upper links.

flex is fine. Get about 4.25 inches under the front tire. I like that it doesnt seem as floppy.
