Talking t9dragon's Honcho/Cherokee

I special ordered the Honcho from my LHS and it arrived last Wednesday (Dec 9th). So I went down and picked up, I thought I was going to have to save it till Christmas so that the wife could give it to me as a present. But I got lucky as I wen to the LHS on Friday (Dec 11th) and they had the Blade Tandem heli in stock so I picked that up as my present.. LOL!!!

So I started the Honcho build on Friday (Dec 11th) at 10pm. That is the wrong time to start building any RC. Well the build went great except for a few missing screws. I finished up the build on Saturday evening. Now all that is left to do is paint the body and wait for the rain to stop so I can test it. The only problem I have had is with the shocks. They are really stiff, no recoil action when you try to compress them.

Now on to the pics...

After several months of it sitting on my desk I finally had some time to run it while we where at the beach this past weekend. It was fun while it was running and then it just stopped like the battery was dead. The steering was still operating.
Here is my setup Sidewinder 5700 setup, Losi 2s 5000mah lipo, the servo is a Cirrus CDS750 and the pinion is a 15t with a 87t spur gear.
Would anyone out there know what the problem could be?

Thanks for the help.... I will post new pics of it sometime this week..

Battery just sounds like it was at the voltage cut off point.. Happend to me before. Truck wont go but steering still works.

The voltage of each cell is 3.99. One other thing is I run this pack in my 4wd Slash and I can run the Slash for close to 30 mins and it only lasted about 15 mins in the Honcho and that was on flat ground..

The problem is undoubtedly the lipo cutoff.
My honcho (with the velineon setup) does the same thing.
Once it dies, the steering works, but it wont run.

As for your run times, I would venture to say its one of two things, maybe both.
1st, you didn't charge the batts all the way, (I get close to 1,5 hrs on a 2000 mah 2s lipo.
2nd. You've got some binding somewhere in the driveline. Maybe your gear mesh is too tight, forcing the motor to work harder, drawing more current.

The lipo cut-off is set on "auto", the battery was fully charged when I started running it and as for any binding issues the truck rolls freely when you puch it by hand.

I think I might just go back to what I used to use in my AX10 which was a Mamba 25 esc and a Black Revolver brushless motor from Holmes Hobbies.

At first when I build my Honcho I didn't put any oil in and that caused similar situation when the shocks didn't work quite as expected.

Well, I finally had a chance to run the Honcho. It was a blast, I didn't realize going "SLOW" could be so much fun. I ran it for almost 45 minutes, along the rocks, sand and creek where we were staying on vacation. Now I need to finish the other scalers' I am working on so that my son can join me on the trails. I will post pics of our fun shortly.......

Axial has a winner with the SCX10, especially the Honcho version IMO. Picked up the RTR and I have BEAT that thing, still nothing has broke yet!

What color did you end up going with?

Working 2 jobs and coaching my kids' sports teams leaves very little time for me to bash. But when I get the time I enjoy it.... I have about 4-5 different bodies for my SCX10 plus I have a XTrail that I need to finish along with another SCX10.. So hopefully I will get them done this fall...

I never thought going "SLOW" could be so much fun.........

Okay I have now finished the Cherokee body and I noticed that I need to get shorter upper and lower links for the rear. Does anyone know what the rear links for the Dingo are?
