| Help me choose Honcho vs scorpion
Here is my problem. This will be my first crawler. I like the looks of the SCX10 Honcho but CRRK has a complete package on the ax10 that is hard to beat. Basically, the AX10 kit is $100 less than the Honcho kit. Are there any advantages to getting the scx kit ? |

Component wise, does one have an advantage over the other. Other than the wheel size? | |

Mostly, you will see much better performance from the AX-10, as it is a basic comp crawler, so the articulation and overal performance will be better. The Honcho, is more realistic like a scaler, but is limited in performance by it's scale design, as in it would have a tougher time going where the ax-10 does, but looks more real doing it. It just depends on what you want. Nothing against the AX-10, as they are great, but if you go that route, you might also want to look at the Losi Night Crawler or Comp Crawler as they are very popular as well. |

If it is just for fun, get a scaler and then go on some of the local trail runs in Houston. There are several crawler groups in TX under the TXRCRCA http://txrcrca.com/. Check out the Texas RC Offroaders http://www.texasrcoffroad.com/ in the Houston area and come to a couple of comps and scale trail runs. That way, you can see what tuype of crawler you like better.

get an scx-10 and copy your cj. Paint same color, wheels, tires, etc... and it makes it more enjoyable.

Get the Honcho. Its a great scale truck. Comp rigs are great, I have run out of new places to go to challenge my comp rig. |

I'd say for bashing, the Honcho gives you more options. I've had both, AX10s and Honchos, and I actually sold two of the AXs, and converted the other one to another Honcho. Now, what you will notice now is a lot of Honchos are going to be up for sale with the new Wraith coming out. I'd keep my eye on the for sale section here, and I'm sure you'll get a good deal on one. They are nice, you can go uber-scale with them, or you can put 2.2s on them and get them pretty compable. I've got mine on 1.9s, right about 6 lbs, and I stay on the rocks mostly. You can waterproof it, put 2.2s on it, and make a mud truck. Lots of options. |
