Default couple Scaler questions

I am looking at getting my first scaler. I really like the Honcho Kit, but I also like the fact that the TR has a shorter wheelbase. I want to build a 2 door JK wrangler, and I think the honcho wheelbase will be to wide. I know you can lengthen the wheelbase on the older scx kit, but is it just as simple to make it shorter?

If i did go with the TR, then can I just swap the plastic for aluminum Axial parts from the old scx kit? I might go that route since the electronics are in there, and I can swap the links and shocks and such as i go.

thanks for any input!

Sounds like you have it all figured out. If you get the Honcho you'll have a lot of unused things, but you could sell them to buy some electronics. Or at least fund some electronics.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I plan on building a JK and I'm leaning towards the TR. It's not going to be my main rig, more of a loaner for people to come along with me. So I won't mind if the electronics suck for them.

Are you cutting down a 4 door into a 2? What is your finished wheelbase, or are you not that far into it?

I don't mind the stock electronics to start, as I will probably rip them out later down the road. I am not that far into it, but I will probably cut down a 4 door into a 2 door. I want it to match as close to the real deal as possible though.

I looked at their kit the other day, but it requires an Ax10, and I figure I would get the TR, and drive it while I work on the body and other items.

I guess my question now is can I just swap the plastic parts like the links and steering on the TR for aluminum Axial parts from the old scx kit?

Let me know if you ever want to check out any of my scalers, we can meet at Palmer Park sometime. I have the Honcho and a couple hard body Jeeps. I have had a couple SCXs and AX-10s converted to scalers
