Default To foam, or not foam, that is the question.

Building my new Honcho and have came to the tires now. Im running the rok lox and would like to know what you guys do. Im used to the heavy 2.2's on my AX10. Should I cut foams and weight on these 1.9's? What seems to be the best recipe?

I have found the stock foam for the 1.9 Rok Lox to work pritty well. I have a set of Nova foams that I am going to try in them also, but you should do just fine with stockers. They realy work great.

I am running 3oz of weight in each front wheel, and none in the rear. It climbs like mad. You will be very happy with them.

Here is a vedeo to show you how those tires and wheels work together. Mine is the Dodge. And here is the build tread, if you are wanting to know what I did to it and some more pictuers.

MOPAR MADNESS. My Dodge Mega Cab build.

I hope this helps you with your desision.

as of now im running stock foams in my rok loks,
with a groove cut 1/4x1/4 in the middle of the foam.
keeps your sidewall strength, and lets the middle flex as needed.

i have some nova foams coming,im gonna be trying out as well.

I used the memory foam that comes in the 1.9 flat irons, 3.5oz in each front wheel and 3oz in the rear. works awsome, thats my formula.

I've heard of some guys filling the tires with Airsoft BB's. Anyone had any experience with this? I've got a set of Eightshooters with M3 Moabs that I've got to either cut the foams down or figure something else out. They wobble like crazy. Any Advice?

Hi, I'm including this question here so as not to create a new thread for such a small question - sorry if it's off topic, but it is about wheels!!
I just bought a second hand scx10. All my other Rcs: ax10, WK, Savage..... have plastic washers that do between the wheel and the locknut. The SCX does not have these: does it actually comw w/o them or are they missing. Am asking casue i dont want to crack the wheeels when tightening.
Cheers

I'm presently building my SCX10 and I haven't put any wheels on yet. I just looked and DVD_777 is right. The 12mm Aluminum Hubs supplied in the kit are flat faced meaning they don't have the "Axle Shim" for 2.2 size wheels. However, the kit is supplied with a set of plastic hubs that include the shim. I assume that's because the 1.9's included in the kit don't need the shim. The hole in the rims is the same size as the axle. I'm glad you pointed the out, I would have cracked my rim.

YES. I have run with many different types of rc cars over the years and most of the on road stuff does not have any plastic washer/spacers. this is fairly typical (depending on type of car of course). In this case i would assume that they did the 2 sets of hex shaped axle pieces so that they could run either 1.9s or 2.2s without worrying about losing little washers.
