Default Winch Question

I was looking at the RC4WD winch and other winches and was wondering how you control these things? Do you use your 3rd channel on radio orand do they need a sepperate battery? Also which winch is the best one to get. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

I have the 3racing winch myself, yes you can control it with your third channel but it also comes with a control system that runs off of the battery and you control it by hand. The latter option is a pain in the a55 if you ask me.

Yes and no to all of that.

3racing winch you need a 3 channel radio if you don't want to press the button on the controller each time.

rc4wd has an optional wireless control but otherwise works in a similar fashion.

You can run either with your main battery or a dedicated spare one.

As to which is better .... I have only used the 3racing unit. It tends to get the line wrapped up in between the housing and the drum and I did fry one controller because of that. It's not terrible but I hope the rc4wd is better.

I use the RC4WD winch with a mamba 25 for my controller. It runs on its own 2 cell lipo that is about the size of a quarter. Works like a champ

i picked up 3 racings winch for 21 bucks of the bay and figured for that cheap it wouldnt be that good of a winch or that strong but i mounted it, tied the hook end to a tree branch and pulled my TR strait up it, i was pretty impressed with it.
