| Scx10 Advice needed...
Hi, I started in the crawling world with an AX10 which I spent $800+ to make it comp-able. SO MUCH FUN! I'm leaning towards the SCX10 TR. I have no experience with scalers, so I have a few questions... Is the SCX-10 TR a good platform to get started in the scale crawling world? How does it perform stock? What mods would you consider most important to enhance performance? Are scalers even remotely close to a comp crawler performance-wise, or can they be? Is the SCX10 TR durable enough to have my seven year old run it without causing damage constantly (occasionally is ok )? Thanks for your feedback. |

Just got the SCX10 TR and its a awsome scaler to start with. I got a CC Sidewinder ESC to replace the stock ESC. Stock ESC has no drag break. I also put 110mm shocks to lift it and put 2.2 tires on it. The 1.9 tires are too small in my opinion. Has plastic suspension links but can be upgraded to aluminium. The trailreadys and great truck, but for me personally I'd get the kit. I like to pick my own electronics, as Id replace them anyways, and you get a better selection of parts I think. Plus you can get the SCX10 kit with the dingo body for free at TCS, or just the truck for $200 at rpp.

I'm going with the TR. Mainly because I don't have a big lump of money to dump on a kit + electronics + radio etc etc. I would like to go with the cheaper option. Although I do have an XL-5 waterproof to go in it. So far I havn't read a negative review of the SCX TR, and most of the threads I've read on this forum, people have sounded suprised at how capable it is. Then again, same goes for all of the SCX range. From what you've said it sounds like you want a slightly cheaper rig that you don't mind letting your daughter use and abuse, but also something that can be upgraded to make it more capable. I would go with the TR. |
