| Fox's Junkyard Build
Well I managed to score a pair of free Axial Axles complete hub to hub...and then it sorta dawned on me...why not build a rig strictly out of free/cheap parts? (also me being on a tight budget right now lol) So I'm going to. all I have right now are the axles...(they're being mailed to me as we speak) also have some Losi 1.9 wheels coming...got them for $20 for like 6 or so of them...with tires.. Or I may use the RC4WD Duallies I got off Alfy on here...not sure yet lol I have no idea where this build will take me..or how long it will take..all I know is it'll be great fun donations are welcome. (and yes I do pay shipping) I'm looking forward as to where this will take me....I'll also be browsing eBay and on here in the Classifieds looking for a steal... I guess it could be the "Fleamarket" build lol but I like junkyard better...I was always fascinated by junkyards....I could spend days looking in one for stuff Lol |

My buddy built a three speed tough truck that is sick for just under 60 bucks from parts laying around. So this should come out great.

Well if it's a junkyard build hopefully it will look pretty ratty in the end! I think it would be cool to see a Sanford and Son type truck.

I'm sure it will. Lol I don't know wheather to go leafs or links...I can make my own links...and I thought about making my own leafs from a fish...seeming they use a springy type of metal...and they look close to being scale...not to mention they got rust on them already lol And frame wise I'm probably gonna go with a SCX10 frame. I"M also thinking of dropping in a Summit Tranny... Last edited by Shadow Fox; 06-14-2010 at 09:07 PM. | |

A friend reminded me of a comp crawler build he did...and I thought of using a TRX tranny...they usually go for next to nothing...i think that might be the way i'm gonna go...the Rustler/Stampede/Slash all have the same internal gearing don't they? Magnum 272 i think they're called? My guess is the number would be different if the gearing wasn't the same.... and my Chevy scaler is a trail rig.... ...so i think this is gonna be a mudding truck And my Losi wheels came in today....got a set of 8 rims and 8 tires...4 complete wheels...and the other four had tires glued on them..gonna boil them and take the tires off....also had 6 of the wheels with 1.5oz of lead weights on them...they should come in handy for my Chevy.. Axles haven't been sent out yet lol he's still looking for a box to ship them out in... |

Update....scored a Axial TR frame set on eBay for $40. included was the chassis rails tranny mount shock towers plastic links chassis cross braces as well as two bumper mounts front and rear... I now have almost everything for this build...still need shocks or leafs. Pictures soon. Well Marcus and I arrived at the junkyard and picked out some half decent looking axles even had a set or old wheels on them... He looked over them thoroughly Then we came to a near new chassis...the guy said it came from a Toyota that fell off the assembly line...the truck was trashed except for the frame..it was straight and true...so we took it.. He looked over it.. and thought about it and He liked it...so he paid the odd looking wolf man... So now they're sitting in our shop...ready for mock up... Update... Marcus and I did soem work on it the past couple days...got some longer links for it and made up soem more links..still waiting on some Revo Rod ends... but we got the front axle installed ... Marcus mounting up the front links laying on the creeper. Doesn't look half bad...we got he rear part of the chassis supported by a chassis dolley..just allows you to roll the frame around till we get a rear axle under there... (it's made of Meccanno) got the rear axle under the frame...just for mock up..still need the rod ends. Think it looks good.. 4 link close up Doesn't look all that bad...long way to go yet though... |

Well the REVO is sitting as a roller right now...so i'm gonna "Borrow" some rod ends from it to help get this rig going a bit faster... Marcus is holding my place inline for the Launch of Black Ops...so I'll be working on the truck for him. |

well scrounged around and found this Dodge body....it was either that or the Ford 350 body we saw....but Marcus doesn't like Ford and neither do I so we went with the Dodge... Marcus quickly got to work and mocked up the Cab...then took a rest while I snapped a few pics. we were thinking a truggy using the old Toyota bed/cage we had lying around the shop... From the looks of it if we want to use it we'll have to extend the tubes a bit farther. (I don't have a spare Cab or I'd take a stab at a quad cab Ram) so I took it off and wondered about just scratch building a flatbed? we tried the original bed but it wouldn't of worked...shock towers made it impossible to mount to make it look proper. (though It may work if we went leafs) |

Sweet build man! Is Marcus for hire? Can't wait to see it done! The dodge body is a nice choice!

| I picked it up for $4 at an automotive fleamarket... just had to take it off the New Bright chassis lol the guy was like"There's no remote or battery" and I"m like perfect. find some neat stuff there...I seen a nice F350 Crew cab body that would've worked for a 1/10 build..he wanted $30 it had dropped bed lights and everything...but i'm not a Ford guy (Different F350 body I referred to in a previous post) |
