Default Motor/ESC help

need a good motor/esc combo for my honcho. I want plenty of torque with just the right amount of wheel speed for around a 75-125 bucks. I also don't have a sodering iron is that problem or can the wires be spliced?
(and it needs to be ran off a 6 cell 5000 mah nimh battery)

You can get a good cheap soldering iron from radio shack for around 10 bucks. A soldering iron really is a must have in this hobby.

For the controller I recommend the holmes hobbies torque master for 100 dollars and a cheap silver can 35t from rc4wd or even the axial 27t. The ESC is overkill right now but will allow you to run whatever brushed motor/battery combo you like in the future and is also fully programmable via castle link.

An alternate setup would be a Tekin FXR 35t combo or a CC sidewinder with a 35t or 27t motor.

Even a Traxxas Titan motor would work okay:Motor/ESC help

If you stick a 35 or higher turn motor on there with a 14T pinion, there will be enough motor/gear braking, that you can get by with the stock ESC.

I have a Reedy StockStar 27T, 12t pinion with stock esc and getting good motor drag brake. The Reedy has the FB9 magnets. I would prefer a 35T motor but this will do for now.

Holmes Hobbies 30t best motor for the scx-10 IMO with 15/87 gearing its not super fast but has loads of tourqe so you can use a little taller gearing
