| Best battery mounting method?
There's a lot of options for batteries on these. I want to buy a few smaller lipos, but what size depends on where I would mount them. It looks like the best/lowest place for a full size is either sideways up front with the hand bros servo kit, or maybe beside the frame rail, or else sideways behind the front tires. But the manual shows one mounted on the front axle.. that seems like it'd have to be soo tiny that it wouldn't last long. What about a 2/3A sized battery like a mini slash or 18R uses? I think I want to stick with 2s to avoid BEC issues, and I don't think I need the extra voltage of 3s. This is a 2/3, looks promising and can supposedly handle 88 amps: 105x35x17mm I think if I go too low on the mah I won't be happy about swapping batteries. I don't like refilling while crawling unless it's with beer. Last edited by CentralCoaster; 07-12-2010 at 03:25 PM. |

I found some info here http://www.nitrokillers.com/showthread.php?t=1135 on some Maxamps batteries that fit the axial mounting plate, the same p/n that Axial has in the manual... but the pics show an AX-10. I don't see how a battery can fit here without hitting the frame rails under compression. Or is the manual wrong? |

Search for BOWTIE and his battery trays. Perfect fit up front. |

Ooh I like it. Now I just have to figure out whether to get the long or short. I'm thinking long one would fit the electronics better. That stock box is uselessly small. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239096 Last edited by CentralCoaster; 07-12-2010 at 04:48 PM. |

I'm running a sidewinder but I bet a sidewinder micro would be enough for what I'm doing, that'd fit in there with my little airtronics rx. Not a big deal though as I'm not going for waterproof, the lipos wouldn't be protected anyways.

No pics, but it's what I'm going to do when I have the extra funds for my RC's again.

it depends on your rig. in my unimog that's in the design phase, its a buggy and im storing the battery under one of the panels. there are A MILLION different ways to do it, and the fattbatt looks good to |

i run a 2s lipo 2200mah maxamps, runtime is @30-45 mins depending upon throttle usage. i run mine upfront like BOWTIES tray. i like the 1320man 2s lipos by thunder power,small/decent runtimes $25 ive got (4) of those, easy to swap out. and i run the venom batteries for the 1/16th slash 1300mah 3c $20/2000mah 2c $25 its all on you. you want more run time=you get more weight, bulk a lil less runtime, lighter battery smaller dimensions. up front is where you want the weight, generally. of course the rig and how you have everything laid out, will determine the batt size and shape. happy trails |
