| SCX10 Wet Weather Care
Now that we have officially hit the 8 month rainy season here in Seattle I have decided to reconfigure my SCX10 from a crawler to more of a muddy trail rig. I already have a Traxxas 2075 servo, Xl-5 esc, and an assortment of disposable brushed motors. I was planning on sealing up the stock Axial receiver box with some silicone rtv and/or dielectric grease. Is there anything else that I should do? Do the wheel breather holes need to be plugged? Also, what is the best way to clean/dry my rig after running it in the water? Thanks for any advice!

Here is my setup. I picked up a project box from the "shack", made some wire ports, used ZAP GOO to seal everything and off I went. I kept the stock box up front and put the RX in it and the ESC in the other box. Its been up to the cab in water and all is well. As for after the run, I just douse it with clean water and then spray it down with WD40. On the wheels I just squeeze the water out and about every other month I tear them apart and let the foams dry in the sun/bathroom. |

When I did Nitros, we just washed all dirt and then soaked it with WD40 and then let it dry. It makes things look brand new and lubes everything. Just let it dry only takes a few hours.

Everyone has great advice but I would use Liquid Wrench instead of WD40 becasue Liquid Wrench is plastic friendly and made out of mineral oil.

Make sure you do something with the AXLES! pack them with some sort of grease. For everything else, i just put the rx in a baloon and stuck it in the electronics box, and put a ring of greese around seal on the box after i screwed it together. The esc i packed it full of dielectrical grease and the servo with grease. Oh i also put some grease on the little hole is on the rx box. My honcho has been UNDER water many times and it still runs great. minus cruddy motors.. |
