Default The Junk Yard Dog

I am another who jumped om the SCX10 Honcho bandwagon.
It started out as a Trail Ready.....but it sure didn't stay that way for long.

Started by adding a few Hand Made scale items then some home made metal bumpers and sliders.

And we had to have a hand made custom interior...

Of course the power plant had to be replaced with something more substantial so we dropped in a Mamba Max and a 35T Lathe motor backed by a 2200 mah Lipo battery.

Then we went to work on the suspension, replacing the stock shocks with a set of Traxxas biog bores. These gave me about the same ride height but added a bit to the drop end of the shock. To these we added a set of small RC18T stock springs....these fit perfect on the end of the big bores and gave me just about enough spring play under weight.

Next we added a set of alloy bent links (truss style) all the way around. Left the 3 link in front with four link in the rear. I also clocked the rear diff housing to get the clearance on the driveshaft input.

The stock 1.9 Flat Irons are great tires, lots of grip....but I wanted something a bit taller and found a set of 1.9 Rok Lox and some DNA Assassin wheels. This set up looked and worked great....but I still wasn't satisfied with the height so finally ended up on a set of 2.2 Flat Irons mounted on a set of modified Proline Eight Shooters.
I smelted and poured some custom wheel weights out of pure lead....with all that weight down low she now crawls like a billy goat.

The end result is a big, heavy, nasty looking, Honcho with the attitude of a Junk Yard Dog

where did you get the truss links?

Did you have to trim the body to fit the 2.2s?

got the links off ebay, axial makes a set that are the same

minimal cutting to fit the 2.2's, did raise the body mounts up a bit

Looks great. I like using the traxxas shocks also.

They sure give you flex, and make it so you have up and down travel.

I think that is the HPI body on a TCS chassis with axial running gear
