So in all the years I have been in RC, rock crawling has never really caught my attention till lately. I must have one. The scale crawling just looks awesome. I've decided the SCX10 Honcho kit is perfect but I don't know what sort of electronics people are running in these kits. I am not after speed, so a higher turn motor is best suited for me. I have my other cars for speed. So whats a good combo? I'd like something nearly waterproof and brushless if its necessary unless brushed is just as good. What lipos fit aswell? Will just use a Traxxas waterproof servo for the steering though. Thanks guys |

The most important is to look around in the forum- SCX10 section. There you will see that people use often Tekin FX-R and 35T motor combo. I like the Goat 2S, but that is everyone's choice. The battery I run is 2S LiPo 5400mAh. And so far on my Honcho I have not been able to empty it |

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Aussie. I bought a Tekin FXR with a 45T (probably wish I had a bit more speed with a 35T now though) and a Traxxas Waterproof servo. However, you're best friend is the search feature. I spent a month reading before I even made a post on the forum. There is a specific thread a little further down the page with details on what heaps of people are running. |

Awesome, you will like the SCX10. I am using the Traxxas VXL 3s 3500 brushless system, the whol system is waterproof including the brushless motor, receiver box, servo and ESC, it does very well for rock crawling very smooth and I never stutter at any incline pluse you can use 3s lipo not that you need it though . If you want brushless and waterproof in the same sentence go with that other wise go with Novak or Tekin.

I have a Holmes Hobbies BR-XL (waterproof version) with a Tekin 45T motor. I use 1300 4s lipo and I have a decent amount of wheel speed. The Traxxas servo is waterproof but the plastic gears leave a lot to be desired. I went with a Hitec HS-7954 and I have had it under water with no issues so far. Good luck and have fun! |

Thanks guys. The tekin seems like a great combo. Its quite inexpensive as well. Im use to buying 1/8 tekins. I will probably fab a nice esc/receiver box that is waterproof. Will have to have a look around aswell. Thanks for the welcomes. Crawling will be something different then running my 5T thats for sure. |
