| clod bodied scx10
heres the truck right after i built it. nothing fancy or out of the ordinary just some weighted wheels junfac drive shafts. i pretty much just slapped on my old clod body and started beating on it Last edited by dsm4g63punk; 02-02-2011 at 06:42 PM. ive owned lots of rc cars over the years but ive found this truck to be one of my favorites. after about 2 months of crawling and bashing ive decided to cut up the body and stretch out the wheel base. not real sure of the direction of the build but ill keep lots of pictures posted. heres what ive got done so far thanks for looking |

the kit i chose for the build was just the basic axial scx10 scale truck kit. it has a short wheel base and fits the clod body pretty good. the clod body is pretty cool but just like a real 80's style chevy the approach and departure angles arnt as good as they could be. this is the reason i shortened and bobtailed the bed. im also gona bobtail the front of the truck. then lenghten the front wheel base so the front wheels stick out just a little before the front bumper. im thinking about just using the longer honcho links if there long enough.. have to do some measurements first. im also torn between 1.9 and 2.2s for the build |

i'm thinking 2.2's or the 1.9 boggers. those 80's chevys look best with big sets of rubber under them

i got some more work done on the truck this evening i dovenosed the front. still needs a little sanding but for the most part i was pleased with the way it all fit together.. i ordered my my front link set up today. im also converting everything over to a four link front and rear using Dinky's axel truss'. i had been using the hands brothers cms kit but with the front axels new position the panhard bar will now bind up and hit the 3rd link mount. i also decided that its about time to strip the 4 layers of paint off the body and start fresh so a few days in break fluid should get everything back to white plastic lol. i cleaned my work area before i started lol didnt last long... |

How did you cut the fenders off? Did you just score the line with a hobby knife? Looks good btw! |

i use a few different kinds of small saws to cut the plastic. im sure a knife could be used but it would probably take a long time to cut all the way through and in my mind it might be hard to keep a straight line having to score it so many times.
