Default Duncan's Colorado Cheorkee

I have been wanting to build a Cherokee ever since I got started in the scaler scene with my buddies R1 and R2 (Ryan T. and Ryan R.) But the only one I could find was that beautiful piece of art you can get from Germany. He has a great product, but just too much for me to spend on a body. So, now that Pro-line has their own XJ, I just had to have it. So I sold my Mega Cab gear and I am using the left over parts to build my XJ.

I am building this for purpose of trail runs and making videos. I have had the most fun when I would just out goofing off and making videos with my buds (Outcast Crawlers). Thanks guys

Here is a list of parts for my Cherokee:

Pro-Line Body, Interior, and Floor Pan
Axial SCX Kit, and wheels
Traxxas drive lines
VP High Steer Knuckles
Axial Steel outdrives
Pro-Line 1.9 TSL Super Swampers
Axial Heavy Duty Overdiver gears for the front ?
Tekin FXR with Holmes Hobbies Hand Wound 35T and 20t pinion
2200mah 3c Lipo
Hand made CMS and Trac bar.
R2j Rock rails, Front and Rear Bumper with tire carrier.
Roof rack ( When I get the time to work on it )
Lights will the last thing on my list.

I will aslo be making a mount in the cab for an onboard camera and a mount on the roof also for the camera. More on that later.

Well, that is enough yakin for now. On to the pictures.
(Thanks R2, and Gary for helping me with the paint) Man, I hate paint work.

I can tell already that this floor pan is going to be a big pain, but I wanted to try it so I will keep it on there. When you use the Pro-Line floor pan, I makes you mount your body at a certain hight, witch is OK, but it is going to be a MAJOR pain when mounting metal bumpers and sliders. The plus side to all of this, is that it will help keep almost all the snow/dirt out of rig

I had to cut out a spot for the servo to poke through and I just took my time so it would fit nice and tight. And it does. I used a lot of parts from my Mega Cab for the steering. It is just a "L" bracket that I cut out of Delrin and bolted it to the existing holes in the axle tube. Then ran a track-bar to a TLT axle stay that I mounted to the frame ( It will get painted black when I finish the rig ).

Here is a picture of the lay out. I will finish cleaning up the wiring after a couple of test runs. I ended up mounting the switches on the side of the floor pan for easy access. Should work good. But only time will tell.

Can we see a picture with the body on the floor pan?
My son wants one for his XJ but I'd like to see what you are talking about.
Thanks...

Here you can see that the bumper on the body sits above the frame. Because of the floor pan, I cannot lower the body to cover the frame, just like you would see on a real cherokee.

This is not a big deal at all if you don't plan on running custom bumpers.
It is just going to make it a little harder for a custom metal tube bumper to look right.

Side note- The panhard bar should be parallel to the steering link.

It just looks like to me, that at the moment it's almost.
But almost creates some bump steer.

Looks good I love the color! What is it on the floor pan that makes it so u can't lower the body? I was planning on using one but may not anymore.

Yea, they are very close, but not perfect. YET. I will have a lot of small adjustments once I get it running and test it out.

The floor pan sits on the frame and the interior sits on the floor pan and the Body sits on the interior. (That reminds me of a song ) Don't get me wrong. It all fits very well together. But I am one of those guys that like to change every thing from what it was intended for.

Be careful with the track bar mounted there ...

Mine was that way before it ripped out:

Fixed it with a gunnar tube and some welding. Info in my build thread.

Thank you. I will keep that in mind for sure.
Did you have yours in with one bolt or 2. I have 2 bolts holding mine in. I am just hoping it will hold.

I wish I could help you out, but I am not sure what oil weight is in them. I buy most of my parts used and just run them.

Thanks once again for the pictures.
This will really help us make our decision on how we will address the wheel wells.
