Default Go fast SCX10?

Who here has one that goes fast? What motor are you running?

I have a CC sidewinder that I plan to hook up a 4600 motor to along with 11.1v of lipo power.

Right now I have the stock 27t motor on 11.1v of Nimh and it does ok but I gotta go faster.

I'm trying to go for a KOH type rig FWIW.

Hopefully I am not the only one, haha.

I tried a similar setup with the 5700....for about 30 seconds. It was uncontrollably FAST! I wussed out at about half throttle .

If you are going for KOH then you are still going to need some crawlability. That 4600 isn't going to get that done. You either need a sensored motor or stay brushed.

Why dont you put a traxxas 2 speed tranny on it? That way you can have the speed when you want it and then you can still crawl.

Thats why I was thinking the 4600 and not the 5700 or higher
Do you have any recommendations?

How hard is it to fit that tranny in the SCX10? I have an extra channel on my radio so I can do it.

I don't know how much of a difference it makes but a top speed of 20-30 would be awesome, anything higher is a waste...

I have the Traxxas Velineon 3500 motor and the Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro ESC but with the Traxxas VXL-3S ESC with 3S lipo I could almost beat cars going down my road.

I think the 4600 will be too much and sense it is sensorless it won't have any low end control. A Tekin 17.5 system would be a good choice.

This is the rig I used for KOH stuff 2 years ago. It is just a Holmes 35t handwound with a big pinion. It had great control for crawling and enough top end to work well for KOH type races.

Awesome, I will look into the tekin system, but might just grab something from HH.

I like the one in the video on this page.

Maybe get this motor in 10t with 3s lipo...

I had a Traxxas Venolin in a SCX-10 chassis, it didn't crawl worth a darn but it was a blast at full throttle!

I did a velineon system brushless with lipo 2c 11.1 v and geared the hell out of it with a 35t pinion and 69t spur. It is such a blast but was only a good drag racer lol but i ran 1 inch spacer on all the wheels and man that sure helped in the cornering deptment but you still waaaayyyyy to much fun
