| Another D90 from the UK.
Newbie from the United Kingdom, first post and first scale build so be gentle, I am 2/3rds of the way through building a replica of my 1:1 Landrover 90. The 1:1 :- The 1:10 :- It's based on an Axial SCX-10 and a 90 hard body from Hong-Kong. Sorry no early build pictures as I forgot to take them So far I have fitted longer travel shocks and built custom suspension links to get the wheel base correct for the body. I bought a set of wheels and tyres from the RC4WD along with a winch and a NATO hitch. I then fab'd a front bumper and rear cross member from brass and then painted them up. Snorkel is made from a piece of brake pipe covered with silicone vacuum pipe to mimic the full size one. I still need to finish it off by getting the lights to all work, water proofing the electrics and by making rock / tree sliders, side exit exhaust and fitting some sort of interior and dash board. Oh and then getting it muddy. Seems to flex pretty well Next update will include video I promise. Pete. |

Thanks for the comments. The body is currently mounted using cut down and tapped axial suspension links mounted to the frame rail and then the body is mounted to the end of these through the existing side step holes on the body. I'll post a picture later to show. I am intending to mount the interior to the body. Led system is home made mostly (i'm an electronics engineer) although I have a cheap module driving the brake lights. Just need to make a simple circuit up to operate the turn signals from a switch on the TX. Pete. Last edited by Pete Attryde; 03-28-2011 at 12:42 AM. Reason: added bit about interior. |

Nice. I run the axial nvs on my rig, indicators come on every time you turn the steering. It gets old to be honest. It'd be better IMHO if you could turn that feature on and off remotely. Also, it'd be cool to have reverse lights. Look forward to seeing more of your landy(s).

Just to bring this up to date. I have now more or less finished this now. In typical Landrover fashion the reverse and brake lights have stopped working and I still need to make a fog light and two work lights for the rear. I have re-worked the front and rear suspension to closely match the full size one. I have finished the exterior detailing and made most of the interior, just need to make a spare wheel and an ammo box. More pictures :- Pete. |

Well I haven't done much with this recently, Have fitted a brushless outrunner motor and a mamba speed controller, Took it this weekend greenlaning with some friends and got these photo's and video. Didn't have enough traction to recover the 110 . Video:- http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...t=DSCF0472.mp4 Its not waterproofed yet and the Wales was some what wet . So didn't get any better footage. Pete. Last edited by Pete Attryde; 10-31-2011 at 03:48 AM. |

Cheers folks, I have some plans involving rc4wd scale Yota axles and relocating some of the front suspension to better replicate the fullsize one. Also going to cut the top off it and make it a softop. Pete. |

Well the new axles arrived from RC4WD. Front Yota Ultimate Scale Cast Axle (Front) Rear Yota Ultimate Scale Cast Straight Axle So I have started working to make them fit and the suspension to work and look more like a 1:1 landrover. First attempt at behind the axle draglink. Decided to scrap this as it would have hit the suspension links. Also made a steering arm Re-made the drag link More to come. Pete |

Next were the suspension arm mounts and spring perches First one took about 4 hours to get right where as the second one took an hour. Finally I started on the suspension arms. Only managed to complete one but will do the second in the week. Pete |

| some progress
Made some more progress with the new axles and suspension. Completed the second hockey stick and then moved on to the panhard rod and mounts, hockey stick chassis mounts, spring mounts. new servo mount and steering links. I had to remake the steering arm to clear the panhard rod. and finally a couple with the body in place. The final ride height will be about 1/3rd to 1/2 of an inch lower. Just need to remake the top shock mounts and remount the shocks and the front is complete. Next will be the rear. Pete. |
