Default A question for those using a summit trans...

The question is about the rotational slop, from taking it apart I noticed its from the gear on the fork with the fingers that locks into either 1st or 2nd gear. From searching I haven't seen anything mentioned or any problems with it for that matter.

Anybody had a problem with this? Am I being an armchair quarterback? Should I just shut up and run it?

All those Summit trans have a ton of slop. Id say almost half a rotation before ait engages a gear,. That's SAE tolearances

Just run it. it'll be fine

Unfortunately that's the penalty you pay for having those big-ass tough gears in there. They technically could reduce the slop by adding more teeth to all the gears, but there would be a reduction in overall beefiness of the gears themselves, making them more prone to stripping. I'd be curious to see who will be the first to step up (if someone hasn't already) and make a little better gearset for these.

Rc tolerances are usually morbidly obese anyway. I'll take a lil slop for durability any day. The fingers that engage the gears are beefy enough as well.

Still haven't read a prob with the summit trans yet. Just gonna spray a lil dry lithium in there and not worry about it.
