Default motor choice

im looking to put a motor in my summit trannied honcho, called hobby shop and they got a novak 550 5.5t he can give me a killer deal on im gonna be runnning it through a sidewinder esc

sensored motor wont work with the sidewinder.

Why's that? I've ran them just fine, you don't hook up the sensor and run it sensorless.

As far as performance in crawler, chances are you're going to experience cogging and poor low end performance.

it will run it might not be perfect but with low gearing should be fine or i can use my vx3 esc

well either way dont worry about the esc im looking into a mamba max just wanna know how the motor would do sensored in the honcho

well i can get the motor brand new for 60 so im prob gonna end up with it i can gear it down low

Power shouldn't be a problem, but your batteries better be up to it. The motor is a higher kv rating than the vxl and makes more power. So it should be noticably faster.

idk but a big motor with lots of power and wheel speed sounds like fun to me

That's what I am running now. 13/87 geared pretty conservatively.. it goes about 10mph max and has decent low end control and the motor barely even gets warm... and I mean, just *barely* after a lot of driving.. but I am swapping in a tekin sensored 10.5t very soon for uber smooth low end control.
