Default Rob's SCX-10

So,

I just pulled the trigger on my first crawler. About 10 minutes ago. Got the Honcho kit from RPP. I'm going to do my best to keep this thread up to date with the truck as much as possible. I intend on building it entirely to the directions when it comes in, but I've got a bunch of spare parts already that I'm going to play around with once I get a good feel for how it performs. I want to keep this as a place to document the build and what I find that works and does not. So for now, it's just a place holder, because I have nothing to show.

Yes. My first off-road r/c, truth told. Well, besides a boat I built a while back. I've had an RS4 for a while but it collects dust because it's just way too low and fast to even be practical or fun. There's nowhere to use it! I have no serious plans for this rig, though I do want to try to document as well as I can the performance impact of any mods I do. For future reference as well as documenting the project for my own memory's sake. I'm ready to assemble!!!

Welcome to the scale side of life. It is more addicting then any other form of rc for me. The scx10 is a fun rig from stock to highly modified. Gratz and gl with your addiction when it arrives

scale or 2.2 its addicting. so many hop ups available for axial never mind more crawlers. every time im in the LHS (Local Hobby Store) i spend
$50-$100 on hop ups and replacements and this is 1-3 times a week. every penny i make goes towards RC,s.

Wow, I ordered mine from Towerhobbies for $250, I should have looked around more and saved money with RPP. I hope you like yours. My kit is due in Saturday so I know what I'll be doing this weekend. Also, have you any idea how to install lights in this guy? I've been searching and I can't see how people are using lights. Is there a light kit, or instructions somewhere that I'm missing?

Cheers,
Steven

The kit comes with several light bucket options. I already read the assembly instructions online Nah, I'm not even excited at all. I would guess that they're just for looks, but that a simple drill through the backside of the bucket will give you a place to stick an LED, and just glue it in place. That's my best guess. I'll figure it out once it's in-hand. I'll be running lights eventually, so check back in this thread and I'll do my best to describe how I did it.

Annnnnnddd I'm stumped. How the hell do you get the screws into the diff? Do you have to tap all the holes in this thing??

Don't insult me!!! Hahaha it looks like the holes are not threaded. I don't have an M2 tap. Are these screws supposed to cut threads?
