Default having problems can anyone help

hey guys, i built a scale truck using ax10 diffs, ax10 tranny, 87 spur, 14 pinion, 35 turn motor,2.2 tsl swampers, tiekin spd controller on 3s. it has good speed will crawl over smaller objects fine but, when it gets to the bigger stuff like for instance try to crawl up a wall, it dont have the power to do so..... not sure if that helps but have any had this problem?

what rx/tx are you using? have you adjusted any settings in it? maybe it's set to not give it full throttle?

Id ask how many pole you motor is. 3 pole isnt gonna give you that grunt you want. you need atleast 5 pole, if not brushless with a lipo.

with a 14t pinion you should be able to climb a vertical wall with even a 27t motor. i had a stock 27t with 15tooth and it was as slow/torquey as my buddies 55t 20tooth setup. (both fxr's and 3s in both rigs)

play "musical parts"

thats what i call it when i start swappin out components from one rig to another to try to pinpoint and troubleshoot problems. it reminds me of "musical chairs"

tape a different esc in there for a 2 minute test and if it has torque, then you've narrowed it down to the esc. if it doesn't, i'd say it's the motor!

what batterys are you using? my XR10 using 900mah 20c lipo's has alot less climbing power then it has using a higher C rated battery.

the slipper is good, you can give it full throttle and it does nothing, put it on flat ground and its fine good speed back to normal. iam running 3 cell 1600 ma 20c bats.... i know the bats are good cause i run them in my other crawler

Sounds like a voltage drop issue to me. That can come from a few places. One more common one is the batteries not having the amps required. Older or not charged well batteries may show good voltage with a slight load but fall on their face when pushed. But you say they work ok in your other crawler so that is probably not it. But still possible. If your other crawler is geared much lower or much lighter then the amp draw may not be near as much.

Another thing could be a bad solder joint somewhere. Either in a battery connector on the battery or esc. Or in the wires that connect to the motor. that limits the available amps to flow to the electronics.

Then there is the possibility of a worn motor or bad one. Brushes that are hung or a bad wind. Swapping motors is the easiest way to check. I think you said you did that though.

Chasing power problems can be frustrating but usually turns out to be something stupid and simple once you chase it down. It is when they fix themselves that is most frustrating as I like to always "find" the problem so I can know how to avoid it in the future. Not always easy to do though.

Good luck

my 2 scalers are built the same, same electronics, gears, motor, battery, the only difference is one has 1.9 tsl and the problem child has 2.2 tsl, iam thinking bad esc or its too much tire and not enough gearing?????? but there are hundreds of people running the same set -up iam baffled

What tekin ESC? Do you have a hotwire? Is the current limiting setting on in the esc setup? Is the esc supposed to have a capacitor and does it?

swappin tires from one to the other could help you identify if it's the extra load of the tires.. but i doubt it. my vote is ESC.
