| Custom rear shock setups?
wondering if anyone has some customized rear shock setups? i'm planning to make a custom cage behind my Honcho and it is similar to a flatbed-like design which doesn't allow me to use the standard scx10 rear shock setup with the hoops. i need as much room over the frame rails as possible. i'm looking for build pics or threads that have setups like this. here are the two types of setups i've found so far, I'm leaning more toward the 2nd since I wouldn't have to buy new shocks - but i'm not too convinced on the lower mounts: |

I did a complete shock swap, and modded the placement a bit. It's not low enough for what you need, but it did increase my flex. See my build thread for pics. JeffA's SCX10 Build and Mods |

yeah, i saw your thread - i like how you mounted the shocks further out, but it won't work for me. right now i'm running the plastic axial 4-link truss - I was thinking since I'm doing all this metal work, I might as well make a new truss from steel. I'm thinking of integrating a shock mount into the truss by putting in a shock mount extension that's a cm or two past on the 2 mounting holes on top of the axle. this way i'll be able to clock the shock mounts 90* so the eyelets are f/r orientation and then mount the top similar to the inboard shocks pictured above. i may have to end up going with shorter shocks since the lower shock mount would be a little higher up, thus making the angle fairly steep. might work for a leaf-sprung setup, but i dunno about for a coil setup. if i were to build a 1:1 with custom rear suspension, there's no way i'm cheaping out and going with leafs. |

here's a quick drawing of the truss with shock mounts integrated. shock mount would end up closer to axle housing to reduce the angle a bit |
