Default My Chevy Truck SCX10 - build thread

So found this body and got it on a trade, brand new, trimmed it up, threw it on my SCX10 and got this

Getting painted tonight, longer shocks with cut down springs, and possibly put the pre-runner bumper back on. But I'm not sure if I want to cut up the bumper. I will update as I go.

Thanks guys I am doing metallic red with a black 2 tone. I am also hitting up the LHS on the way home from work tomorrow and gonna try to pick up a clod grill.

The bumper is an RC4WD swingout, I had it on my cherokee. It's pretty stout!

Plans for the truck include a re-working of the suspension, plow mount with plow, gonna see about making a back rack, latter rack, some stuff for the bed, dual exhaust, lights, have an underbody, interior, receiver hitch for towing, and more stuff. This one wont be built for so much as crawling but more towards a work horse and weekend toy.

Updates to come.

Gave the truck a lift, new wheels, and an underbody today. Wheels are HPI stock car wheels with more backspacing to tuck the tires in a little more. Shocks are HPI wheely king shocks and springs are associated coils. Sits a little higher and flexs 10x better. Now to bumpstop and paint it up.

Front done, rear stock

All jacked up

I'm sure you've all seen a stock SCX10 flex so here's the afters

Uhhh..bumpstops needed haha

I also put the stock bumper back on, gotta trim up the bodies bumper a little it looks doofy as is.

More to come.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Dude your just as bad as I am I'll go non stop for 2 or 3 days without any sleep to get a car done... Especially getting a body painted

Anyways since I saw this post I can't wait to get my rear bumper to put on the back of my truck. I painted mine with a classic Chevy paint scheme

Nice man! That came out good! I am doing the whole body metallic red and then black bumpers and debating between a silver grille or black. Gave up on the clod grill for now but might do it down the road. For now, stock gets the job done haha.

And yeah I hear ya I don't have much free time anymore between college, work and the gf. I am going to try to find some free time tomorrow because I work 6am-11pm friday and saturday. I'm happy for the money but sad because my entire sunday will be spent resting so I can do it all again monday haha

Thanks guys, she's painted now, got the underbody on, just need to spray some black on the outside and sticker it up. Then I am having a friend make a ladder rack and sides for the truck so I can hold stuff in the bed.

Here's some pics

Finally got time to work on it again, might take it out tonight but need to work on the 1:1 too. Here's a pic, while gluing the flat irons on, I realized I have room for some rok lox so I might pick up 2 more and run those instead and bumpstop.

I had 2.2s on my cherokee scx10 I sold. I just geared it down and had to lift it more and bumpstop more. Did break a shaft once but I didn't drive it easy lol. And thanks!

Thanks man it is actually just metallic red with a white undercoat and black underneath. I think I am going to paint the front bumper black and the bed black too.
