Default Best way to take slop outta chubs

I have alot of slop in the steering at the knuckle. Do I just throw a screw in with a bigger head? Are there specific screws for the knuckle? I didn't think it would bother me but the tires are gettin warped from when I turn the castor gets off and they lean.

Did you double check that the metal bushings in the knuckles are there?
I helped someone with a RTR Honcho with a bad front end wobble. It turned out that the top bushing on the left knuckle was missing. Replacing the bushing fixed the problem.

No they are steel. They are inserted into the knuckle from the inside in both top and bottom of the knuckle. The part number is AX30450. There is a picture on page 11 of the Honcho instructions

The Axial aluminum knuckles (ax30496) also require the use of the steel bushing in the knuckles.

Most of the movement I see in mine is where the chub is screwed to the axle.

My golden horizons aluminum Knuckles have a lot of slop in them now.. Must be the low quality aluminum.. I just used a small drinking straw to shim them up.. I couldnt fit a complete round like I hoped.. I had to cut tiny pieces and shove them in the hole between the knuckle and the bushing.. It tightened the bushing up just enough.. If you make it too tight the steering will be to stiff and hard on the servo.

I have Dlux kingpin bushings in my AX-10 with CKRC inner C's and Vanquish knuckles. Even after a years worth of abuse there is no vertical or horizontal play.

I have D-lux kingpin bushings in my SCX with Axial inner C's and Vanquish Zero ackerman knuckles and there is just a tick of vertical play, but no horizontal. It's so minute I can't even slip a washer underneath the bushing, so I'm not going to spend time messing with it.

If he'd make them for a Wraith, then it'd have them too.

IMO they are as important, if not more so, than the aluminum parts when it comes to taking the slop out. Just don't put them in you old, galled, aluminum knuckes that have been run on steel bushings for a while or you won't get the same results.

ah didn't even notice those when I replaced mine to aluminum. Didn't think it'd require shimming. Figured they came toleranced. I've been lookin at the beef tubes. There is so much stuff just gettin a rig together proritizin can get tricky. lol

Thanks guys.

Here a link to buy the king pins. The king pins replace sleeves. They take out all play.

Yea I think I like the tamiya ones as well after lookin at a few different ones. Plus I seen somethin like this on power block about bolts bein long enough to have threads but not have threads to far up so it gets greater contact.
Thanks everyone for the help
