Default Mike's XJ build

My Son and I just got into the hobby the beginning of this year. Bought the SCX-10 Dingo kit and went from there.

After running it a few times, decided to go 4 link, and move some weight around. Flipped the tranny 180*, and moved the electronics to the rear.

Being a Jeep Fan (I own a 98 ZJ and 89 XJ) I just knew I wanted to sport the Proline Cherokee Body. Painted many a model, but never one from the inside. The first one I painted was a total loss, but I got better results on the second one

Installed Flares

Installing light buckets

And here she sits as of now

Still have some trimming to do, and am working on building light buckets for the rear and marker lights. Then on to fabbing up some bumpers

That body is too shinny for those wheels and tires. Go get it dirty!

What are you using for the light buckets? And you didn't toss your first body did you? You can use brake fluid to strip the paint and re paint it. Otherwise, rig looks good

I put the first body off to the side, got plans for that once I get better with the painting Being a welder by trade, I see a chop top with eco cage in my future.

I used the Tamiya light buckets for the headlights, building the rest out of styrene.

As soon as I can get some free time from work, I plan on it

Those lights are badass. Are you going to paint the lexan like the lenses or just going to use colored leds and go with a euro look? Oh and I'm definitely jacking your lights setup

I think you could also use the sticker and let the light shine through it. It wouldn't be as bright but it would be an easy way to go.

I've heard of this before but never really understood exactly what you do with the brake fluid... Do you just pour it inside the body and let it peel or what??
Any help would be appreciated!!

BTW... Nice XJ!!

How to Remove Paint from a Lexan RC body ... the EASY way! - YouTube
You'll have to listen to Jang talking too much but the video gives you an idea of whats involved. I like Jang an appreciate what he does I just hate it when he starts going on and on and gets over dramatic.

ZJMike - Sorry for the thread jack

Then on to fabbing my bumpers
