Depends on what you want and how you will use it. If you run in a lot of goo 9mud/water) then do not spend too much on a motor. They will wear quickly in that. The performance benefit will not show it self as much in that as compared to a normal trail. rock rig. If you need wheelspeed for mud and hill climbs then go 27 Turn. If more of a rock crawler then go 35 turn. With the Holmes though you could say go 35 turn and get the torque but volt up to a 3s or 4s battery and get the wheel speed. A 27 turn on 2s goes about the speed of a 35 turn on 3s from my experience. But the 35 turn on 3s has way more torque then the 27 turn on 2s. All depends on what you will be doing with the rig. A very popular option for overall use seems to be 3s batteries with a 35 turn motor on a scaler. I just think it is best to not spend too much on motors on my mud rigs as they get toasted from the crap getting in them very often. New brushes and a comm cut solve that quickly though. but that is not easy for everyone unless you have a comm lathe.

I just got a 45 turn integy. Upped the pinion to 22 tooth with a 2s lipo. Little less wheelspeed but loads more torque. I can still make it up all the big inclines but it can blaze a path where it onced stalled on the rocks. Pretty happy with it.

I really dont do alot of mud...hate to take 2 hours to clean everything after...sand goes everywhere....I guess a 35T in 3S could be my option...

I really think you would be happy with that setup (35t 3s). Very good combo that does a great blend of everything. And you can fine tune it with gearing.
