Default Axial scx10 spur gear problems

On my axial scx10 I have always had a problem with my build kit scx10. The spur gear has a little wobble and has like 4mm of play back and forth. Its not braking anything but makes a really loud annoying noise.

If anyone else had this problem and fixed it please let me know what to do.

First thing I would look for is even tension on the spur bolts.

I'm surprised more people don't complain about this. The back and forth slop is a result of tolerence stackup and wear in the tooling that makes the trans parts. It's like the groove for the drive pin is too deep in the slipper plate or something.

I used four or five thin HPI 5mm steel washers placed outside the transmission case on the input shaft underneath the drive pin for the slipper plate. Add washers one at a time until almost all the slop is gone when the slipper nut is tightened down. You don't want to over-shim it or you'll destroy bearings.

Yeah I posted regarding this over a year ago. Not sure why so much slop. I wrote axial and they said it was fine. I have never had any problems.

It runs fine. but in forward the spur gear moves forward and makes a high pitch noise like it always did. But in reverse the spur moves back a little and then the noise goes away. I guess I just gotta live with it.

Mine makes a slight ticking noise, but only when a motor is attached. I checked all the gears and everything is fine.

The reason is from the assembling. Look over the related parts around the gear you may find out the result.

I had a wobble because I had a bearing in the transmission go out, replaced the bearing and no more wobble.
