It does not come waterproof, all of that is up to you. You will need Liquid Tape, silicone, dielectric grease, marine grease, and upgraded bearings just to get started.

I think you should just get that traxxas boat, and throw a honcho body on it.

SCX10 has locked diffs, but there are upgraded ones available. stock is a single-speed. multi-speed tranny can be done, but will take more work and $. as for the hilux vs honcho - that's completely up to you. you can put any body on the rig you want so long as you can figure out how to mount it. So if you wanted to rock a milk jug for a body for whatever reason, it can be done. BUT in regards to hilux vs honcho - the hilux is a narrower body, so the wheels will stick out much further and will sling mud everywhere, if that's a consideration. oh yeah, and your 850 can definitely be spent VERY FAST on RCs, so be prepared to spend more in the future

In all seriousness though I think you need to spend a little more time searching and reading and less time posting as all the questions you have asked have been answered at one time or another.

i am in the process of said truck now i have a scx10 honcho and doin a high voltage 6s lipo with a 1350 kv brushless motor to keep the amps down i have narrowed a set of tires to resemble tractor tires, the only thing i am up grading will be steel center drive shafts and adding wheel wideners, also full 4 link suspension mud is soft will not be as abrasive as the rocks so upgrades minimal......for now. you can relocate your servo to the frame to keep it out of the mud as well

No matter how much you spend or how hard you work any RC truck will be high maintenance if you mud it constantly. If you want to play in the water get a boat.
