Default Pan hard/ 3 link set up

Ok so here is my problem I just set up the cms/ panhard from level 3rc.
I changed up all my links as well so I could do 4 link rear and 3 link front with panhard. When I.compress the suspension the axle shifts to the side. Here are some pics of the set up.

A panhard/3-link setup will cause the axle to "float" during suspension compression. The big deal is bumpsteer, what you need to do to minimize that is make sure, as best you can, the panhard bar and drag link are the same length and are running parallel.

This is my theory on setting these up, is to set your axle so it is centered at half compression. That way you're only going a little to the left when you're uncompressed and only a little to the right at full compression.

It looks like your panhard bar is connected to the stock three link mount...if that's your panhard bar, I would say that's the problem IMO...it's centered in the middle of the axle so it's going to push the axle to the side when it's compressed or at ride height which is the case from what I can see and when compressed the axle centers up. I've never had experience with this particular companys product but with HANDBROTHERS three link setup, it comes with a mount for the panhard bar on the passenger side of the axle where the track bar mounts on the axle, this I know has given me zero problems. Try to make a mount on the passenger side for the panhard bar where the track bar mounts on the axle....or use HANDBROTHERS three link/panhard bar kit, works great imo.

Good luck.

It looks like he's got everything mounted correctly, just a matter of getting the links lengths right.

I personally have the BPC Chassis CMS kit on both my trucks, no complaints about those. Cheaper then the Hand Bros kit too.

Yep, that could be another reason too but I thought if the panhard bar was too far in, it causes the push/pull effect on the axle...but wouldn't hurt to make sure the links are the right lengths, so I'd try 'devil inc' first.

I've never heard of BPC before...you got a link or web address for them?

OP, maybe get us some straight on pics, the angled view kinda skews everything. Front, Top, Left, Right would be great.

Ride height looks a lil high to me. Also at that full height, looks like the axle isn't centered. Could be angle of pic though. The 3rd link looks too long to me as well. Needs to be mounted on the other side of the pinion looking down at the chassis. Basically a little more parallel to the chassis rails.

I prefer the hand bros axle bracket for its low profile and to fab the rest for adjustability sake.

Excellent pics. I briefly ran a homebrewed CMS setup, I ran my 3rd link from the pass. side chassis down to and through the pivot ball, that is the "center" of the axle from what I measured. You have it mounted up top, probably more secure, but that is off to the side of the centerline. I'm thinking if you move it to the opposite side of the chassis it may straighten it out a bit.

My question to the veterans. Will moving the 3rd link from the right side of the chassis to the left side, while keeping the panhard and drag link from the left side down to the right side of the axle have any negative effects?

Looks like he's got Losi shocks? Those are approx. 4" in length a bit longer than the stock SCX10 shocks the kit was designed around. I'm thinking that's gonna cause a little bit more noticable float.

Yes they are the losi shocks. I an thinking about going back to shorter stocks because I am changing my rig to a comanche.

What do you guys think if I flip the upper to the driver side and shorten it way down that way I can mount it on the same spot on the axle with out making a bracket.
If I do this will I have to flip the panhard to the other direction. essentially mirroring the set up.

to me it looks like the issue is there's too much up-travel/too much lift from your shocks. the panhard par is going to swing in an arc, so that's why your axle shifts when you compress/unload it -- if you don't want the axle to shift, you need to set it up so that the panhard is almost flat, this way you put it right in the middle of it's arc and don't really see much side shifting. try lowering your shock preload and see if that helps.
