| RTR factory paint removal....
if anyone is interested I have found a way to remove the factory paint from a honcho, First off, let me just say that axials paint is pretty heavy duty, anyone who has tried the usuall DOT3 brake fluid to remove paint knows that it usually works well on non factory paint... not the case with honchos paint. however, being an old nitro burner myself, I know that nitro fuel has little to no effect on lexan. so I just happen to have some old 30% nitro fuel laying around. I decided to do a test area first and loaded about 4 cotton balls with fuel on them and started wiping gently, the factory green just suddenly started lifting away ever so gently, I kept the cottonballs pretty wet and exchanged them out for fresh ones when needed. about 20 minutes later I had a honcho body that was clear again. I know what you are thinking.... now you have a body that is all oily from the nitro fuel..... that is true... but, knowing that the aformentioned brake fluid is also known to be a good cleaner for nitro fuel. just dip clean cottonballs like before but with brake fluid this time. clean as much as you can off and when you are satisfied, take your freshly cleaned body to the sink and wash it as you would before painting. works pretty good in my opinion. hope this helps someone. I did many searches and could find very little info on removing stubborn paint. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/images/smilies/thumb.gif |

Did it end up cloudy at all? This could prove quite useful for the new axial jeep body for those who wanna change the color of thier RTR

it did cloud up some in the roof section but should clear up with the repaint, the windows stayed crystal clear. this is however on an old scratched up body to start with.
