| Sv3...
Would any of the new Sidewinder SV3 combos work in a scx10. Im looking to do trail running but not too fast, what is the slowest combo 4600 or 7200? Should i just do the esc with another motor? Thanks |

They will work fine, but its not a sensored motor, so your not going to have the slow, low end power you need for crawling. To be honest, if your trail running and want a little more speed, stay brushed, get a Holmes ESC, or something similar, and drop a 3S lipo in it. You'll keep your low end and the 3S will give you more wheel speed. Brushless systems dont play well with water either. |

dude, did you READ Castle's discription? It is the same thing as the sv2, but it's waterproof. Get the Castle link, and you can change the settings on it ( brushed/ brushless, drag brake, ect.) It has the same brushed motor limit as the ae-2, 19t 540.

Stick with the sv3! If you want to keep the speed and torque go with a good 35 turn motor on 3s! You can ask this question to 20 different people and you are likely to get 20 different answers! Try the search button and look at what others are running! |

I used to run that setup in my wraith! It will not run nimh batteries. It is fast as hell and I would compare it to an unsensored version of the pro 4 motor from tekin! Extreme overkill for an scx10, but thats just my opinion! I put it in my scx10 for about 10 minutes and took it out. Your gonna break tranny gears and every other drivline piece that isnt upgraded. Not to mention the sto k scx10 axels will not handle that much power.

Im not sure you can run nimh batteries with brushless setups. The batteries cant pas enough amps to keep up with the demand of the motor!

xl-5 has no programming at all and no drag brake or customization, the Castle sv3 is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better then the basic no programming cheap junky xl-5, they are not even in the same class, you've basically just said... "Nah, I don't want the 2013 Corvette, Rather have that old beat up 1997 with bald tires and showing all kinds of signs of abuse" SV3 is hands down the best ESC out there for its dollar point for a scaler, and for another $15, you can buy a Tekin FXR which is the best in the world (Some Holmes BR-XL fanboys may disagree with me on the FXR, but not me!) |
