Default Moorin's hilux wroncho build

Hello everyone! This is my second build thread but this time this one will be completed. I was building an scx10 style rig from scratch which was in the 2.2 section but since I have sold the chassis and bought the remaining axial parts to build a modified honcho with a hilux cab.

Well had to wait a while but finally got a few parts sorted and built up:

Using standard scx10 axles with lockers and waiting on the four link kit to arrive before I can get it on all four wheels but will update as and when I can!

Rate/hate

Thanks man took my time for a change to paint it so came out half decent. That picture was before it had some clear sprayed over the base coat so I will have to get some decent pictures, only thing now is I don't want to scratch it!

Also that is one reason I am afraid to paint my body, I know it will just get ruined in short order. Lookin' good.

Thanks! I am just trying to get it up and running looking quite "stock" since it's been nearly a year at looking at parts and then will start fabbing up a cage etc for it

What color of purple is that your using or color code? I like it, but what i am planning for my rig is going to be a little darker I think.

Well I'm from the UK but its a ford paint:

We have a colour called "Cadbury purple" (after the chocolate bars) which is a darker shade:

And some shots of the body now it's polished, sealed and waxed

Also forgot to mention every hole has been filled on it as I'll be mounting it using Velcro.

Well my axial link kit finally came through so once collected from the collection office I decided to build the chassis into a roller, don't know if the shock extension plates need to be removed as the ground clearance is amazing at the moment.

Not much articulation at the moment but can back off the damping on the shock reservoirs

Default Moorin's yota/honcho hybrid build

Long time since the last update but I managed to get the truck put together and use it a few times

Managed to get the honcho bed to work with the lux body but thinking of fabbing up my own at some point. Only used it in anger a handful of times and already hating the ground clearance with the flat irons causing me to get the diff hung up on all sorts of little rocks. I also decided I liked the look of wraith axles so a bit of ebaying later and my old axles are sold and new wraith axles are coming soon

Also trying to sell my flat irons to buy some 2.2 rok lox as they look a little taller and just a more scale tyre IMO.

Also fitted the hilux grill and lights so need some LEDs to complete the look,

So this is the "bag of bits" I'm left with at the minute:

Quick update, I have now ordered:

2.2 rok lox tyres
Wraith axles
Wraith steel steering linkage
Arb diff covers
And a led lighting kit

Going to get around to welding a cage together and a front stinger as I would like a winch at some point.

Updates to follow when parcels arrive (hate waiting on international post). :(

Ordered two 10mm bore 35mm stroke cylinders and one 16mm bore 35mm stroke cylinder so I can have a play and see how powerful the setup is going to be.

How did you manage to make the cage and cab work together? I'm curios as I have both and am considering trying this.

The cab at the top is slightly smaller then the cage but if you get it aligned properly all I did was still a hole either side on the back of the cab near the top and tie wrapped the cage to the back of the cab to hold it in position.

As you can see I have smoothed all the body securing holes so unjust velcroed it to the front body masts and tie wrapped the bottom of the cage to the chassis. Hope that helps.

I'm curious about the rear cab piece, did you just decide not to use it. I like the color.
